Kabana litterbox cover, February 21, 2008
by dotty33 from WA

"Great for keeping the litter granules enclosed. My cat did not seem interested in sitting on top of the canopy, so no problem there. BUT, if you have the Elite version of the self-cleaning Littermaid consider buying the canopy which works best for that particular model. I made the mistake of buying the universal Kabana where you slide the littlebox inside, effectively hiding all of the digital controls. Even the cut-away flap for the transformer is incorrectly placed for the Elite model. Most annoying. Yet I'm sure the canopy which sits only on top of the Elite litterbox will be the better buy. If only the local store carried such an item."

It's an okay thing..., January 6, 2008
by Chickyfufu from Chandler, AZ

"We have the littermaid plus and this tent seems to work well. The place where the plug comes out is exactly where my plug is so I do not have that issue either as others do. My cats are not interested in trying to lay on top of it, so no problem there - I guess they don't want to lay with their stinky poops. My biggest challenge is trying to clean the litterbox. It claims that there is a zipper for easy access or that you can slide the box out. If you use the zipper, then you have to unzip it all down the side and back and flip it open which doesn't work well against the 2 walls it is with. Or you have to pull the box out, clean it and then push it back in - this doesn't work that well either because the bottom of the tent slides with the box. I think if it were to not have a bottom as others have suggested, then it would be easier to clean, BUT then you would get litter all over the ground as well which does not happen now in it's current enclosed state. Visually, it is moderately attractive. It is just white thin material which probably does not stain. Important when you have a squishy faced snarfy cat like I do. Due to it's untraditional look, people will ask you what it is. Overall, it serves my primary purpose to effectively hide the cat box and I would recommend it to others of course mentioning the not so easy of use in cleaning."

Littermaid, please redesign this!, December 11, 2007
by bbp121 from Charlotte, NC

"Littermaid, you really must redesign this!
1. - The cord hole does not match your product placement(auto littermaid litter box). How elementary is that?
2. - You need an access area in the back where all your fancy auto litterbox controls are!
3. - The top bar supporting the canopy is not strong enough. Please recognize that cats love to sit on top of this and when the bar comes apart, it interferes with the rake action.
4. - I like the floor of it, as it catches everthing that gets flicked out, but overall the access to the fancy, expensive littermaid box it covers is obstructed.
I hope you listen and redesign this for us!"

economical solution, September 18, 2007
by docamadeus99 from Long Island, NY

"For the price (as compared to $100+ for other housings), this product works well. However, I do not have the problem of my 2 cats wanting to climb on top of it like some of the other reviewers. It is not designed to support that. It is a hassle to take the box in and out of the cabana to clean out the leftovers the rake does not get. If it didn't have the bottom on it, it would be better. If you want an economical solution, then this is a good buy."

very strange product..., August 5, 2007
by LisaD from Virginia

"Not sure how this was designed to go with the LitterMaid ... While it was good to have something to contain the litter that the LM was constantly pushing all over the floor, the design was baffling. It goes around the whole box rather than just over it, so you have to pull out the whole box to access the box's control panel and clean out the mess that the LM rake leaves behind. Also, the opening for the cord is on the side -- but the cord on the LM comes out of the back(??) I had to buy an extension cord to make it reach the outlet in the bathroom, only to return both the box and this tent after finally giving up on them a few weeks later."

Not worth the hassle, July 13, 2007
by Maebnus from Nebraska

"I got this with the LitterMaid Elite regular-size box (which I also reviewed). The cover was flimsy and too big. The top bar wouldn't stay together, and overall it was just wobbly and cheap. I don't know if it would fit the Mega box better, but this would've been more effective if somehow attached to the box. My cat wouldn't go in with the fabric flaps hanging down (he's fine with plastic doors on other lids), but the space was too open when I used the built-in velcro to keep the flaps up. I returned the Kabana cover and the LM box a week later."

Litter Maid Tent, March 20, 2007
by durango from Texas

"The bar that goes across the top (from front to back) is constantly falling apart. It will not stay together.
Also, it is so big. I would rather have one that sits over the Litter Maid Automatic Litter Box and not completely surround it."

Not Worth $30, December 20, 2006
by KitKat25 from Colorado

"I
got this to keep my kitten from jumping out from any side of the box
and spreading litter everywhere. It does keep the litter contained.
However, there are many more negative points. First, the thing is
enormous. It barely fits in my litter box designated space, leaving
about 6 inches for my cat to get in the front opening. Second, it only
has one opening for the cord to go in. This opening happens to be on
the furthest corner from where my wall outlet is and the cord barely
(yes again, barely) is long enough to plug in. Finally, even though it
unzips, the frame is inside the fabric, so it's stiff and unmovable
whether or not it is zipped or not! You basically have to either pull
the litter box out or bend over awkwardly into the cover in order to
clean the box or check the litter line. I am really disappointed with
this but because it's the only thing out there for the automatic boxes
I've kept it. I'd return it if I could find something easier to manage."

Littermaid Cover, November 9, 2006
by abrownstein from Centreville VA

"This cover was simple to put together, although a bit of a pain to slide over the litterbox. It would be easier if there was no bottom and it just clipped onto the actual box. It is not super sturdy, but it does the job I needed it for, which is to stop my male cat from urinating over the side of the self cleaning box. This cover catches his over-spray and is easy to clean off with soap and water."

cat cover toy, September 26, 2006
by Michael from Tallahassee, FL.

"The center support rod on this cover is in two pieces and collapses under the wieght of a cat. Our two cats jumped repeatedly on the side and top of this cover and we could never keep the top support rod intact. If the top support rod was one solid piece, it may work better.
I returned the unit to the store after 30 days of trying.

The previous model, with a box frame support system will hold a normal sized cat if it jumps on top of the unit, (which all cats will do), and it is much more sturdy and stable."

Nice play tent for kitty, August 18, 2006
by Gogi from New York

"After buying this to cover my automatic litterbox (which is awesome, though a bit noisy), I realized it is not the most practical item. When it is in place, you cannot see or access the control panel of the littermaid, so if you want to adjust, you have to go through a whole thing. Also, it is not easily lifted off to clean or check the litter, since the box sits on top of the "tent" bottom. And with this box, you DO have to check the litter, etc.

All in all, it was too much of a hassle. So now kitty has a luxurious play tent in the corner of the room and an uncovered litter box."
