Cons: odor control didn't work with my cats
"I am very disappointed with this product's odor control. I was expecting more from this product. I have a large and an extremely large (23 pound) cat and when they used the litter pan using this litter you knew about it instantly! I switched to Tidy Cat and it was a huge improvement and odors from the box were eliminated. One time when I ran out of Tidy Cat I used the remaining Fresh Step and what a mistake, the odor was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this product to those with larger cats. We have a happier household now without the cats "gassing" us out when they use the box."

Pros: ok clumping ability Cons: not great on holding down smell
"The maker of the automatic letter box we bought recommend this brand for its clumping ability (so that it can be removed by the litter box's removal mechanism). The brand clumps better than another litter we've used and has an OK, not too perfumey smell. However, it still doesn't clump well enough for the automatic litter box to remove all or much of our kitten's deposits. I still end up manually scooping every day (though this may be more the fault of the litter box system than the litter).
The litter also doesn't hold down smell too well. Despite thoroughly removing deposits daily (and keeping a ceiling fan running), I can still smell cat waste after a few days' use. I don't know how many people make it 30 days before completely changing the litter box (as recommended by the manufacturer). One and a half weeks is our limit (and only after daily removal of deposits)."

"This litter is leaps and bounds above the others I have used, another brand was on sale last time I was at the store and I foolishly thought whats the difference....big mistake on my part after a week of god awful smell and liter that is impossible to clean because it won't clump I am throwing out two full bags of the other stuff and switching back to the Fresh Step, not a mistake I will make again."

"I have three cats and two huge litter pans, and Fresh Step Scoopable with Carbon beats out all the other litters I have used. I scoop every single day, but even if I miss a day, the closet that houses the pans never smells, unless you really get up close. Shake in some baking soda and even that smell disappears. The clumping power is just extraordinary. I use a really good scooper that can get even the tiniest clumps, and Fresh Steps makes even tiny clumps seem easy to scoop. If there was any negative side, I'd say dust: The litter can be quite dusty. But it is definitely worth it."

"I got this on sale 4 dollars cheaper than usual so I bought two 40lbs tubs. This litter works good because it has no scent, so you don't have to worry about your house smelling like the jungle or a forest (which I hate). Also clumps very well, picks up urine great, I use it on my domestic long hair and he doesn't pick up any in his fur. My cousins have bad cat allergies (so we thought) but because they were exposed to other peoples litter boxes and smelt it they had allergies. My cousins have no allergies to this litter and they can play with the cat and be fine. Best Litter, Good price as well."

"This liter is the best around, i have 3 indoor cats (2) boxes i 1st started with this liter and never smelled anything at all it cloumps great also, i recently thought i would try another brand and WRONG I will never switch again. "Fresh Step clumping litter is by far the best litter out there. I have tried them all. Most of the others that say they are 'clumping' but are cheaper don't clump the urine. This one is great. It has a nice smell without being overwhelming. The only thing I don't like is that the larger buckets (over 28 lb) are hard to open and close."

"I have 3 cats and until I tried FreshStep Multi Cat , my laundry room was not a fun place to visit. This product is, by far, the best I have used. It beats all the rest by a mile. You do have to be diligent in doing a cleanup of each (2)box every other day to keep the boxes/room fresh smelling. A good door mat virtually eliminates most of the litter being dragged around the house. The cats had no problem changing brands, I recommend this porduct to anyone who has and loves their cat(s)."

"I have used Fresh Step Clay Litter previously and just recently decided to change to a clumping litter, because I wanted to go from a once a week cleaning (not including daily scooping), to a once a month cleaning of the entire litter box. So, since I have used Fresh Step before, decided to try their clumping litter. YES, it is a bit dusty! But I love it! However it does get tracked by humans and pets a like, cleaning is just a part of parenthood. I do use it in combination with Arm & Hammers Cat Litter Deodorizer. I cover the entire bottom of the box with the A&H Powder and then put the litter in. Throught the month (typically once or twice a week) I add a little more powder for added freshness and you would never know I have cats. I think that the Fresh Step is wonderful and the A&H just adds that extra little freshness you need sometimes."

"We own three cats and two Miniature Schnauzers. This means a lot of work and odor if not kept up with. We have tried many litters with the most important thing being odor control. This litter has a clean pleasant smelll, the cats prefer it and it keeps odors at bay the best. Yes, it does get tracked around if you don't have a good cat mat and it has some dust when you poor it but it is worth it for my house to smell clean and the cats always use their box. All the other clumping litters including Arm and Hammer had a smell I did not care for."

"This litter does cover up bad odors and it does clump hard but it is way too DUSTY!!! Whenever my cats would dig into the litter, clouds of dust would come out and it would go everywhere!!! Also the scented perfume is very strong!"
