The plastic clips that hold the cone together keep falling out, which causes the cone to fall off her head. It is also not wide enough so she can still manage to reach her rear with a little effort. I had to use zip ties to keep the cone on her head. I will not purchase again.

I, too, am happy that I didn't rely on the bad reviews and pass up on this collar. My pitbull mix has floppy ears and tends to open a wound that he had from cauiliflower ear years ago...every now and again it gets inflamed, so when no one is around to supervise- he scratches it and we have to start the healing process all over again. This collar works perfectly- the store clerk was nice enough to ask what breed the dog was and basically guess-timated which size would work for him. It was the perfect fit- I feel bad for using it because my dog seems a bit depressed with it on, but when his "boo-boo" is healed, he'll be a happier dog in the end. He's been bumping into everything in our apartment, purposelly scraping it on the concrete when I take him for walks in hopes he can break it - but it is still going strong- no issues. Definitely recommend this collar! Buy It!

My cat had surgery to remove a polyp from his ear. When we placed the e-collar on him (given to me by the vet with a different design), like most cats, he flipped out. Once I got him home, it was impossible to keep the collar on him.
I went to Petsmart to see what other options there were. I purchased this e-collar and it works beautifully. It fits him better (lots of sizing options) and it doesn't make him flip out and he can't get it off like he could with the other one. It also seems to be more comfortable to him. It's also easy to put on and remove---has snaps on the e-collar itself and the collars snaps into place and has lots of holes for sizing to the animal's neck. But the main thing...he can't get it off or access the surgical site!
Pros: easy to administer, works great, price

Max can rest much easier in the E-Collar:)
This collars is GREAT. The covered edges decrease the risk to get caught on things and prevents scrapes on walls; the plastic is more flexible yet still durable enough to prevent access to injuries; and the best part is that your pet can see through it so they are not stressed out with limited vision. My sweet Max is much happier with the E-Collar...THANK YOU:) All vets and ER centers should use these collars. Caring pet owners are willing to pay the a FEW extra dollars to make their babies as comfortable as possible after already going through a stressful situation which caused the need for the collar in the first place. The cost was only $2 more than the horrible one I had to buy from the vet.

I was reluctant to try an e-collar for my 100 pound yellow lab because the one he had from the vet when he had stitches split the first time he caught it on a corner. Finally after he had licked a huge hole in his hip, I bought this one. As of today, he has been wearing it almost full time for six days, and it's still working! He bashes into everything, rubs against the walls, and scratches at it with his back leg. It bends, but it hasn't broken, and the cloth covered edges have protected our furniture, walls and legs. He is able to eat, drink, and sleep with it on, and it seems to be fairly comfortable, all things considered. I wish I had tried it sooner!

Our chocolate lab, Cocoa, had surgery on his personal area and the E-collar we got from the vet lasted a week. We purchased this collar from Pet Smart going on four weeks ago and it's still in one piece. The padding is finally falling apart. Cocoa is a "bull in a china shop" and the collar gets banged up on walls, furniture, and us. My husband rigged the collar up with zip ties on a separate dog collar and it works wonderfully!!

I do not recommend this for a large dog. It's very flimsy and the tabs busted off. My dog was eating it the third day when i went to get him out of his cage. I went back to the vets office and got one from them, much better.

I bought one of these for my toy-sized dog in an attempt to get him used to the idea before ore he actually needs to wear one for his surgery in less than a month.
The collar is relatively easy to put in place, but a little more difficult to get off. My dog hasn't even come close to snapping the plastic or the little clips and despite the fact that the collar does not come out to the end of his nose, he is unable to lick himself any farther than the ends of his legs and tail.
After the initial five-minute temper tantrum, he seems to be ok with the collar, though he does get upset when he gets himself caught on something or wedges the collar somewhere and can't get out.
So far, I am satisfied with this product.

I purchased this e-collar after my maltese had jaw surgery and it's great. He was also neutered 3 weeks ago and came back with an e-collar from the vet's office which was extremely inferior to this product, yet more expensive. This e-collar costs exactly half of what they charged me at the vet's office. I love that the edges are padded! No more scratches on my wall and less severe bruising on the back of my legs ;) in comparison with the other collar. Also, this collar is more transparent than the other which I think helps aleviate some of the stress experienced by the dog of wearing a cone on his head. My dog is a little longer than most maltese types and is still unable to lick anywhere on his body or scratch his face. One more thing, this collar is significantly easier to put on than the other one. The little plastic tabs don't seem to be of the best quality and I noticed that one was already broken after I came home from purchasing it. However, I would rather invest in two of these than purchase the one from the vet's office again!

We got this product because we just brought our Shetland Sheepdog home from being neutered. This product is NO WHERE near wide enough to go out past a sheltie's long nose! It needed to be like 3-4 inches wider then what it was. And just a larger size would have been to long, and wouldnt have stayed on his neck. I would have returned it but the plastic clips were so cheap that we were doing it up and one of them broke! Other then the blow up collar, Petsmart has no other options. Looks like Im headed back to the clinic in the morning for a better collar.

I have an old German Shepard who has food allergies. The allergies make his skin itchy and he gets hot spots fairly easily. This E- collar really makes healing easier and faster. I've used the same collar multiple times and it's proven to be sturdy and reliable even when my German Shepard is roughhousing with our pitbull.

I have a large dog (100lbs) with a hotspot that he wouldn't leave alone. We bought this collar at Petsmart and it's been great. it has many sizes to choose from (it took us several failed trial and error attempts to find the right one). It is also more transparent and a softer material than the one's you typically get at the vet. It did take him several days to learn how to eat and drink on his own but he's had it on for about a week and has figured it out. The cone has hit most of our walls and several trees and is still intact. The edges are also lined so it is not as irritating to his skin. It was very tempting to remove it during the first few days while seeing him struggle, but he has adapted and the hotspot is healing much more quickly. I definitely recommend this e-collar/cone for large and active dogs.

after discovering that out beloved weasly had a lick granuloma and needed a satalite dish (e coller) we got one from the vets office. The price that we had to pay to get it at the vets office was nuts! we decided there had to be a better place and we thought petsmart! yes! this E coller is not only durable as our weasly likes to run it up against everything he can. but it hasn't falled apart yet i mean we lost a clip but we used duct tape and to me the color hot green is so much more stylish then blue or purple. if you need something to keep your dog away from their foot these are the best. we also tried the inflateable one's and highly don't reccomend them. as another reviewer said HAPPY HEALING!

HI!!!
Money is no object when it comes to my 5 lb. yorkie puppy's comfort, especially after having surgery. I originally bought the pricy, blue, blow-up collar, thinking it would be comfortable for my pup to wear after having him neutered. I REALLY did not want him to wear the plastic cone, for fear that it would be uncomfortable and he would not be able to eat or drink while wearing. When I tried the blue blow-up collar on him in the xs size, he pulled it right off with his paws. I echanged that one for the small size, and it was too big. I bought this plastic cone and it is working GREAT!! If you have a "licky" puppy like mine, you'll need to use something to protect the surgery area from being licked. Some sites say to put it on and take it off when he can be supervised, but I didn't do this. I put it on, he didn't like it at first, but within a few minutes, he gave in and figured that he had to "live with it." I don't take it off, even for a minute, because he will be upset all over again when I put it back on. He can sleep, play, eat and drink while wearing this. I got the smallest size, so I would recommend this to anyone who has a very small dog that is being nuetered. I used a couple pices of thick masking tape along the outside edge so that it would not catch on anything.

OK, I tried the pro inflatable one first just to avoid this one, but my dal could still lick her injured toe. Although she does not like this huge plastic lampshade, it does work. JUST remember to go LARGER rather than smaller. GOOD LUCK, happy healing.

Our Newf had to wear this after her spay surgery. We got her the biggest size the store carried, which was the one appropriate for her. XXL (not sure if they have anything bigger than that, but that was a good size for a 6 month newf). It held up okay for a couple days. She was so tired at first after the surgery. It did start popping open after the 3rd day. By fourth day it cracked when the pup happened to bump the couch. The padded neckline was good, but the quality needs improved for this product. If you can find another e-collar to use, it would probably be better to use that one instead.
Pros: comfortable for the puppy padded neckline
Cons: expensive, breaks way too easy if you got a bigger dog

I had a cat that had to wear a e-collar for a month. This one worked great and the snaps never broke. She is a very small cat but it worked great. I am saving it just in case there is a problem in the future. The only tip I would give it after you have got the right fit for your pet, put tape over the unused holes in the collar. If you have a pet with stitches, they may be able to get to them just enough to irritate the area. Put the tape on both sides so it isn't sticky.

My kitty cat was spayed yesterday, and the vet charged me $15 for this "Buster Classic" monstrosity which tied around her neck with a frayed piece of gauze. I called my local Petsmart to ask if they had this product in the store, and then I went and bought the smallest one. They come in different translucent colors, but the clear one seemed like the best choice. It is ten times better than the Buster and costs half as much. The snaps are difficult to undo, and I can see how they could easily break, but so far mine are still good. I was thinking you might be able to use shoelaces or even zip ties to thread through the holes if the snaps break. My cat does not like wearing it, of course, and I don't like having to make her wear it. But the neck ring is padded, and it's not overwhelming in size, so she can move around a little and eat and drink some. I've even heard her purring, and she doesn't struggle when I put it back on her after meals.
