Pros: healthy Cons: a little expensive
"I switched my australian heeler to this food after reading that they shouldn't have food with a lot of wheat, corn or chicken in it. Since eating this food, he is more regular, his skin allergies have cleared up and he's more energetic. I was worried that he would be diarrhetic, but he's been just fine. I would definitely recommend this brand to anyone."

Better Results Than Science Diet,
January 21, 2009
by TexasRose
from North Texas
"We had an adult rescue lab/golden mix come to our house and he scratched all the time. He was miserable and it made us miserable to watch him. It was enough to drive you crazy. I tried him on the Dick Van Patton Sweet Potato Duck formula and it gave him the trots and he scratched even more. I tried Science Diet Lamb and Rice and he still scratched. Science Diet prescription Ultra ZD worked pretty good, but for a large dog, it became too expensive. We had fed Nature's Recipe Lamb and Rice before with good success, so I gave it a try. This food, in combination with Aloe Life Aloe Vera Gel for Pets (given orally) was nothing short of a miracle. He quit scratching almost immediately. He scratches now and again, but nothing more than a normal dog would do. In case you are wondering, the aloe vera gel helps with digestion, which is usually the root cause of allergies. We have 3 different dogs on this food, all thriving and doing well. The list of ingredients is short and easily recognizable and at 40# it is a great value. Most of the other brands have gone to #35 pounds or less. A 22.5 pound bag of Science Diet Ultra ZD Prescription runs around $85.00. We have a large clan to care for and this helps keep our expenses down. Do give it a try, I don't think you will be unhappy with the results."

Pros: easy to digest she loves the taste. Cons: puppy type doesn't come in larger bags anymore.
"We had lot's of problems with our Petite Goldendoodle pup when we brought her home until we switched to Natures Recipe. We tried Natural Balance and it was a disaster. We thought she was sick off and on for a couple of months and then decided to make the switch after our vet finally said it might be the food. We haven't had a single problem with her health since then. Poor girl had to go through that for a couple of months and if you're reading this hopefully your dog won't have to experience the same food reactions as she did."

"My dog has a very sensitive stomach when it comes to dry dog food. WE had her on 3 different brands prior to this Natures Recipe. She was having a lot of problems on the other food but all symptoms stopped when we swtiched. She gobbles up all of her food whenever she gets the chance!"

"I adopted my baby girls, two adult standard dachshunds, about 3 weeks ago. The adoption fee included two bags of Science Diet dry food. When I got my babies home, they wouldn't eat. I mentioned this during our post adoption visit and the vet said add water to soften the food. This is about the only way they would eat it. I also had to add canned food to trick them into eating. I talked to a friend and she told me what to look for in dog food and what to avoid--by-products, wheat, and gluten. After doing some reading of my own, I now know what to feed my babies. They love Nature's recipe. They will eat it dry alone!! I don't have to trick them or mix other stuff with it. I've also noticed a big difference in their stool. It's softer and the odor doesn't knock me over! I highly recommend this product."

Wonderful food!,

"We have 4 dogs, two Boston terriers, Junebug and Sharpie, one Lhasa Apso, Louis, and one Rhodesian ridgeback, Zuri. About a year ago we found out that Junebug is allergic to corn, which was causing deterioration of his spine. It was really bad, we thought we were going to have to put him down; he no longer had control of his back legs, he was dragging behind him. Our vet told us to find a food without corn; by far Nature’s Recipe is the best that we have found. All of our dogs love the food, they have more energy, their coats are healthier, and the best part, along with the food and treatments from the vet Junebug is doing a lot better, he now has the use of his back legs. As you can tell I am a big fan of this dog food. We will continue to buy it and recommend it to our friends and family."

Nature's Recipe Lamb & Rice Adult Dry,
April 17, 2007
by Cher

"This product is very comparable to high end expensive food. If you read the ingredients, they are basic and healthy and the price is VERY reasonable. My dog's, (all 7) do really well on it and I have tried many different quality foods over the years. They like it alot and it's real good for sensitive stomachs, allergies and their stools are compact and firm. Easy clean up! Great food!"

"I have 4 dogs. Two Boston Terriers and two Dobermans and all of my dogs have sensitve skin and stomachs. My girl Doberman has a really sensitive skin reaction to allergies is certain foods. And the boy Dobe has a VERY sensitive stomach. Vet recommended a 17 pound bag of dog food that cost 35 dollars. That would last a week maybe! So I researched and found that Natures recipe has NONE of the things that dogs usually have allergies to such as beef, wheat, dairy. GREAT now I can feed all my dogs without a problem. So I highly recommend."

"I have an 8yr old, 10lb poodle and ingredients like corn and wheat slow down her digestion. I struggled finding a pet food without corn and wheat, even turning to more expensive brands. She had no problem switching over from her current food and likes the small bite size."
