I changed my 13 year old long hair Maine coon to this formulation from another formulation of Science Diet. He's coughing up hairballs at least 75% less, and he loves the taste. He's even starting to run around the house more, feeling more frisky!

I have two rescued female long haired cats over the age of 8 & a newly rescued female medium long hair. They started with the Hairball Light & I have now switched them over the the Senior Hairball. They love it and I have to say, they seem to throw up less hairballs while on this diet. But when they do, it appears they are cleaned out. It seems like a very easy to digest food for them
Pros: high quality, digestible, taste

To the person that commented on not seeing a great difference since switching to the Hairball formula, I know what you are talking about. My 13+ year old (short hair) has always had a touchy tummy and this formula was recommended by the vet (Science Diet discontinued one of their formulas that she thrived on). It was a slow adjustment but she is doing quite well. I sometimes mix the "regular" senior formula in with this and can tell when she gets less of the Hairball Formula in the mix. My point is, I cannot always tell that she has eaten the Hairball formula, but I can definitely tell when she is not.

We switched to this from Science Diet Light formula for our 10 year old cat Boots this year. He is a long haired cat and was constantly throwing up hairballs. So far I haven't noticed a great reduction in hairballs but enough that my mom does. I guess if you used this along with hairball preventing treats (Boots hates them), a shed-reducing shampoo and a regular brushing routine there would be little hairball trouble but the food will not do all the work.

I have a 15 year old long hair cat. She has always had a lot of dandruff and her fur matted easily, not to mention she was constantly throwing up from hairballs. All of that is in the past now that I give her Science Diet hairball formula for mature cats. She LOVES it. She has put on some weight (which is a good thing) and her coat has never looked or felt better. She is shiny and silky and no more dandruff. This product is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My cat is 14 and has fluffy long hair. Therefore, you can imagine how difficult it is to find a cat food that works well enough to help her pass her immaculately care for coiffeur. However, this works! It is the only thing that has ever helped to put weight on her. She weighed in at 8 pounds or less for her entire life-kind of on the skinny side. However, this food has helped her to gain about a pound an a half. She loves it and now snubs any other brand! I love it because she loves it!!!! :)
