Science Diet(r) Feline Hairball Light

Lower in fat and calories than Hairball adult formula but still provides all the necessary nutrition your cat needs and with an increased amount of vegetable fiber, hair is able to move safely and naturally through your cat's digestive system, reducing hairballs.

My Xena is 13 years old and grew up eating and still eats SD Hairball control light. The other cat Zeus was overweight and both had hairballs vet suggested this and it became the food of choice for over 12 years. I would like it more if it was more natural, less preservatives. But it is the one Xena prefers, she likes the crunch too. Definitely recommend to all cat lovers!!!

This is the best cat food! My vet recommended it for my slightly overweight kitty that also suffers from hairballs. We've noticed a real improvement in his weight and a lack of hairballs - brilliant! Love Science Diet.

The reason this food works so well to get rid of hairballs is the ridiculous amount of fiber in it (10% is the highest of all dry cat foods I've seen). The ingredients are not as good as the natural foods and I'd prefer not to feed my cats this. However, one of my cats has been having chronic diarrhea problems with an unknown cause, and this really firms up his stool. The grains are visible in his stool. Both of the other cats like it even though they aren't supposed to eat it. The one that does is always very hungry even though he eats about 2/3 of a cup per day. I'm not sure how he stays so large eating "light" food. I will only feed this as long as his stool needs to be firmed up.
Pros: digestible, taste, price
Cons: low quality

I have 4 cats. I have tried a lot of different cat foods-Blue Buffalo, Nutro, Wellness, various Purina Brands, and yet...my cats do not have as many hairballs when on SD Hairball Light. They are more excited with this food than any other type.

I was feeding my cats the regular Adult Hairball Control and thought I might switch to this, but they do not seem to like it as much.

My cat, appropriately named Kitty, was adopted from a Petsmart store and has always eaten Science Diet. Over the years I have switched from kitten, to adult to adult hairball control and finally to adult light hairball control and it has all worked great. I have tried several other kinds just to see how she liked it and I noticed that the other brands didnt stay with her as long (more hungry so used more food) and she used the bathroom more. Science Diet is a little pricey for my usual tastes but it is actually worth it in the long run. I was also really relived when a few years ago it was found that many pet foods contained dangerous ingredients that was killing pets around the country and Science Diet was NOT one of them.

I have one long-haired and one short-haired cat. Both are relatively finicky about their food. They are picky about the shapes of their food and I was delighted to find the unusual shape in this product. I feel very secure with Hill's Science Diet products and was pleased to find this with Hairball Control - a problem with both of the cats. I would certainly recommend it to anyone - I find they will eat it in preference to other dry or even wet food.

I have six cats all with different needs. My biggest concern was that one of my cats was really over weight. when we found her you could see every one of her little bones. when i got her home she ate so much every day in fear that she would never eat again! doing so she gained a lot of weight. When i put my cats on this formula within 2 weeks she has lost a good bit of weight and i havent had a problem with the hairballs from my other cats. The other great thing i noticed is that i am buying less food. Something in the formula is actually filling them up more then the old brand. I am happy and so are my kitty's

My cats love this food! It works well with my one little one who has hairball problems and his brother who gets a little heavy sometimes so this food is the perfect compromise. I was worried about the quality of their coats but they look great so far.

I've always fed my 2 cats Science Diet, but when they got a little chubby, the vet recommended switching to the light formula and they switched without problems. They've even lost a little weight! One is long-haired, so the hairball formula is excellent for him.

Our vet recommened the Science Diet Hairball Lite for our cats since they are overweight. Both cats loved it!. Too much... It was the strangest thing. They loved it but would be begging for more in 2 hours. They used to not beg at all. They couldn't get enough. They resorted to just sitting by the bowl waiting to be fed again and would wake us up in the middle of the night, hungary for more. While it had less calories than other Science Diet foods, I think it also stimulated their appetite. We switch back to mixing the food - Hairball & Lite with a touch of Dental.
