My min pin loves it!,
July 14, 2009
by minpin1mama
from Towson, MD
"This food has done wonders for my min pin's health and overall happiness. There were times when she was eating strange things (blankets, socks, etc). The vet said it was due to stomach upset and that we should try a food for sensitive stomachs that does not contain chicken, lamb, beef, or wheat. They thought she might be allergic to the previously listed foods. This is the perfect food since it is a salmon blend. She has not eaten another strange item and is much more playful now! We love this food!"

Stellar!,

Pros: no toots firm stools gorgeous/heathly coat Cons: i agree it should go on sale!
"This food has been a life saver. For us, not our dog. She was routinely gasey, like stink up the house bad. She also had bacteria & yeast on her skin, ear infections and demodex mange when we first fell in love with her at the humane society. After treatment for the mange, her coat is full again and HEALTY. No more scaley skin or itchy skin. Some of that is in response to the demodex treatment and some is to the fish oil capsules, but I believe too that the food is wonderful. Oh, and no STINK! Really, you can tell when she's gotten into the cat food or had a table scrap or two. Whew. She also had consistant loose stools until the change to Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. Normal poops were (and still are) so exciting! Scooping the yard is just a dream. Switch! You won't regret it."

Worked to settle a sensitive digestive system,
April 24, 2009
by HikerDog
from Kingston, ON
Pros: calmed a sensitive digestive system Cons: suspect ingredients such as artificial vitamin k
"I recently adopted my dog (Black Lab) from a rather unstable home and wasn't given any info on food, vet history, etc. He had very loose stool when I first got him, which was expected considering switching homes. For the next four weeks his stool continued to get worse. Over the last week and a half he had blood in his stool, suggesting either serious digestive issues or a serious food allergy. I tried several "high end" holistic dog foods with no success. Pro Plan isn't considered the best dog food but after one meal his stool firmed up and it stopped the gastrointestinal bleeding. I ended up switching him over in just three meals after seeing the result after the first meal. For now he will stay on this food and may eventually switch to a fish based holistic food."

Very happy!,

Pros: good amound of calories, fish is the #1 ingredient Cons: petsmart never includes this formula in sales
"I have 6 dogs and have done a LOT of research on kibble & other diets for dogs. Although my 3 large dogs are now rawfed, this was the ONLY kibble that did not cause consistently loose stools in my 2 large greyhounds. I went through a year of giving several different kibbles a chance. We tried 5 different premium kibbles, to be exact, before finding ProPlan Sensitive Skin & Stomach (PPSS&S). I originally switched to this food because it was the least expensive food with fish as the protein source (my big guys weren't doing well with chicken or lamb, and were just toooooo gassy on beef... or at least at the time I thought it was a sensitivity to those protein sources. Now that they're doing fabulously on raw, I know that wasn't the case). As stated above, after we switched to PPSS&S they had no more loose stools, much less gas, and they were more excited about meal time.
My 3 small (under 20 lbs) dogs continue to eat PPSS&S and are doing wonderfully. They love they way it tastes more than a kibble I was feeding for 4 months or so prior to switching to PPSS&S. All 3 of them were also having a hard time maintaining or gaining weight on the previous kibble I had settled on because the calories in that kibble are about 25% less than PPSS&S. I thought I was saving money with that kibble (the only kibble that costs less than 65 cents/pound with meat as the #1 ingredient) but now I don't think I was saving much $$ before because I had to feed them so much of it to maintain their weight!"

Better than Science Diet,
July 11, 2008
by hick1234
from Tracy,CA
"I have a 11 month old Blue Brindle Pit Bull who has very sensitive skin. After taking her off her puppy food I tried Science Diet Sensitive Skin food and she hated it.We had to doctor it up with wet food just for her to eat and even then that was a chore.Once that bag was gone I started surfing the Net for other foods and saw Pro Plan so took her with me to the store to check it out.I opened up a bag for her to taste and she gobbled it up but had to try again just to make and the same results. No more wet food and she can hardly wait for meal time. Also her coat is silky smooth and no more scratching like she once did..Dont cheat your dog go out and buy this product....."

"We purchased this food for our diabetic hound mix who was having severe skin problems. While researching a new food to try to help with his skin problems, we ran across reviews for the Pro Plan Sensitive skin & Stomach food and were impressed with the ingredients since there was nothing that would affect his blood sugar. We have now been feeding the hound this food for a month and his skin looks great and the itiching is almost gone. We also had a blood sugar test ran on him and it is in normal range for the first time ever! We are now feeding all of our dogs this formula and would reccomend it to anyone with a dog with sensitive skin."

Best Food I have ever fed,
November 30, 2007
by Boxerdogma
from Waveland MS
"The Boxer I recently adopted from rescue had come to them with Demodex mange and the usual finiky Boxer stomach. We started this food before I brought him home, he has continued to thrive and his coat and skin look wonderful. Boxers are famous for their "gassy" ways, this food produces little to no gastric issues for Rhett....and that makes the rest of the family VERY happy!! BTW, He LOVES this food!"

Amazing!,
May 20, 2007
by drumelloboe
from Houston, TX
"My dog seems to have quite the sensitive stomach... I had him on Science Diet Nature's Best, but he would vomit it up anywhere from once a week to twice a day, but wasn't sick. I then switched him to ProPlan's Small Breed formula since I really like the idea of meat being the #1 ingredient, but he wasn't a huge fan of the taste. I noticed about a month ago that he was licking his paws an awful lot, and learned that that's how dogs deal with allergies. He's also had dry skin for as long as I can remember. After reading the reviews here I went ahead and bought a bag of this stuff. I wasn't sure how he'd like the taste, but wow- I mixed his old and new food together but he wouldn't even touch his old food. His allergies have stopped, his skin is clearing up, his digestive system seems to be running more smoothly, and he's a more energetic dog. The kibble size wasn't much different, either. I have a minature dachshund, hence the small breed formula, and there's almost no size difference in the kibble. This food is absolutely amazing. There's no reason not to feed it to your dog!"

True Quality,

"I have worked as a vet tech for years. That's how I ended up with four dogs; all whom have special needs. My one dog in particular a pug/shar pei mix suffered form skin and digestive disorders. I tried many rx diets. Finally, one of the vets I worked for recommended Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. What a difference. No more ear infections, obsessive licking of paws and unexplained diarrhea. This food has been beneficial to all four of my dogs. People often comment on how healthy their coats look. I tell them its the food. What a great product!"

Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach.,
April 11, 2007
by DiamondDobes
from Alpharetta, Georgia
"I have worked as a vet tech/Certified Hill's nutritionist for multiple veterinarians over the years, who have all suggested that I give my doberman pinschers Hill's Prescription Diet J/D for their skin and joint problems. Unfortunately, the J/D as rich in nutrients as it is, gives them terrible gas. I did weeks of research on holistic/organic/top of the line foods that could even compare ingredient wise to J/D, and Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach is the only brand that superceded the rest. Not only do my dogs love the taste, it also includes glucosamine sulfate and high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, which for larger dogs is a key ingredient to avoid arthritis later on into their senior years. The high levels of fatty acids has also made my dogs coats nearly flake free. I would highly recommend switching your dogs to this food if they are having any dietary indiscretions or skin allergies."

LOVE THIS FOOD,
March 15, 2007
by Fetzer02
from Rochester, MN
"I have a black lab who had chronic diarrhea when we got him from a rescue group. He has been tested for every disease and parasite known to man with no luck. I had to put him on prescription food ($95 for a 40# bag) in order to get the diarrhea to clear up. My friend told me of this food and I put him on it cold turkey - no blending with the old food. His stools firmed up within one day (two feedings). AND he LOVES it. He was always apprehensive with food but he loves this stuff. Now all three of my dogs are on it. Their coats are shiny, they have energy, and NO loose stools."

Great Product!,

"My basset hound has skin allergies and was itchy and miserable beginning late this past summer. She was also starting to vomit up her dinner at least once a week (although she was showing no signs of sickness). We tried a few things--topical treatments, baths, environmental changes, and so forth. Then we decided to change her food to the Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach (she was eating Pro Plan Chicken And Rice before). BINGO! Her itching was reduced dramatically and no more vomiting. And she LOVES the taste!"

"My dog(Toy Fox Terrier) appeared to have food allergy constant biting at feet and hot spots on coat. Tried many different dog foods on market without success. I switched to proplan sensitive skin and stomach 3 months ago. The results have been outstanding, and my dog loves it too. My dog looks healthier, hot spots have healed and grown back in now! "I have fed Proplan Sensitive Skin And Stomach to my 2 poodles for a year now and they are very content with it. It has Salmon in it so it seems to be gentle on their stomach's , which means less grass eating and regirgitating, which was a problem before. Their coats are soft and their skin seems to be less itchy too overall I give this product a big thumbs up and would recommend to people who's pets seem to be food sensitive."
