"My 18 month old lab loves this food!! Unfortunately, we struggled for almost a year trying to find the right food for her. No matter what we did or what food we bought, she had diarrhea all the time, her stool was never firm, she had TERRIBLE gas every single day. We tried everything, prescription food from the vet, Eukanuba, etc. Finally, a friend reccommended we try this brand and to use the fish and sweet potato formula. It has been amazing..her stomach is better, she doesn't even have gas anymore, and the best part...she LOVES her food!! Would reccommend to anyone!!"

My dogs love this food!,

"My Golden Retriever is 5 years old and has suffered from itching and ear infections most of her life. I also have a 2 year old labradoodle who started having the same issues. I've always fed my dogs IAMS and never had any problems with feeding it to my previous dogs. I went to the vet way too many times for ear infections with my Golden and we decided to try a different diet. Can I just say my 2 dogs stare me down at 4:30 every afternoon for their food now? Before they just ate whenever - i always kept food in their bowls because they never overate. Since this food is more expensive and highly desired my dogs...I only give them the high end of the recommended amount on the bag. My Golden Retriever is so happy now - hardly any itching at all and her shedding has decreased by about 75-80%. They love this food and have more energy and playfulness about them all the time. i usually supplement this food with fresh carrots or apples as snacks!"

Excellent for Allergies and Itching!,

Pros: excellent food quality, great nutrition - dense, helps with food allergies Cons: slightly expensive but worth it!
"I have an English Bulldog, who is now 1.5 years old. He has suffered since he was about 6 months with terrible scratching. He will chew on his paws, lick his legs, do the fancy 3-leg-standing belly scratch, and often would lay on the brick hearth and scrape his chin back and forth. Needless to say, this would cause his skin to be red, raw, often broken, etc. Hot Spots weren't really a problem, but we could tell he was miserable. Ear infections plagued him for about 3-4 months repeatedly...
The vet was no help - the did try to alleviate his symptoms, but never tried to find the source of the problem. I decided after researching for a while, that a food allergy was to blame. I eradicated all corn and chicken from his diet, as these are common Bulldog allergens in food. I slowly switched him to Blue Buffalo Fish and Sweet Potato formula.
Previously, he had been on Eukanuba adult maintenance formula. I had raised many dogs in my life with this food formula, and they had led long and healthy lives. With a proper, slow integration of food, he did not encounter any loose stools, and his itching has greatly subsided. i have had him on this food now for 3 weeks, now eating only this food.
Bulldogs are BIG chewers, so I traded all his chicken basted rawhides for beef basted rawhides, and changed from Milkbone treats to another one made from Cranberries and Oatmeal with NO corn or poultry products.
He was tentative at first with the food change, as he would normally eat once a day around 4:30. Now, with his new Blue Buffalo food, he eats the food as soon as it hits the bowl, and is a much happier dog. His coat is healthier, and his shedding has slowed to a crawl!!!
I highly recommend this food to anyone!"

"I switched my dog over to this food about 2 weeks ago. She has food allergies and would frequently get a very bad rash on her stomach. Within days, the rash was gone and it hasn't come back. She also hated her dog food before. She would hold off on eating it for as long as she could and then would only eat it reluctantly... I opened this bag of food and unlike other brands that I have tried, it actually SMELLED like the flavor that it was supposed to be, like something that was actually edible... The price *seems* like it's a bit much but it's really not. Not as much of it is used per meal as other foods and I can already notice a different in how long the bag is lasting... I also mix it with a little bit of the wet food once a day. She loves it with and without the added treat."

"I thought I had the pickest yorkie in the world.. I bought this food and was an ah over the price... I put 10 pieces down on the floor for him and he actually rolled around with it for 5 minutes... the funniest thing I've ever seen...then he scarfed it down like he was starving.. I'm so impressed. Now we will see what happens tomorrow. I'm very pleased."

"This is a very good quality product that promotes a healthy and holistic lifestyle. My dogs love this food and it works well with their sensitive stomachs. This was a concern as the first and fourth ingredients are proteins. However, fish is considered a highly digestible protein. Anyway, this product has received a 4 star rating which is good. Their are 5 and 6 star foods available but they are hard to locate and usually have a very high protein content (this can cause some dogs to vomit or experience diarrhea). The price of Blue is high but you also don't have to feed your canine as much as other brands due to the wholesome nutrients. In the end, your probably saving money with this product. I highly recommend Blue to all pet owners."

Great for skin allergies!,

"I bought this food after a PetSmart associate recommended the food for my cocker's skin allergies (she said she used it for her dog who had allergies as well). My cocker was on Science Diet before, and kept developing red, bumpy rashes and significant dandruff. I ran the food choice by my vet, who said that clients of hers have had good luck with the food.
My cocker LOVES the food. Since switching to this food about 3 months ago, his skin issues have dramatically decreased. His recurring rash has not returned. His dandruff has almost completely cleared up. His coat is very shiny.
My other dog hasn't been switched yet, as I am using up the rest of the Science Diet, but he is constantly trying to steal this food out of my cocker's food bowl because it is so good. I plan on switching my other dog to this food soon.
While it is slightly more expensive than Science Diet, the dogs actually eat less of it. My cocker was getting two cups of Science Diet a day, but his weight for Blue Buffalo food falls into 1 1/2 cups per day. So even though it costs a little more, the dog actually eats less, so costs even out.
As far as other reviewers who have mentioned gas, I have not noticed any gas issues with my cocker.
I have been very impressed with this food and would recommend it to anyone."

Amazing Food,

"This food is excellent! I have two dogs a Pom named jake and a Mini Doxie named Lady I saw an improvement in both of them! Jake has firm stools for the first time in his life and his coat has improved it is more lush and he doesn't have dander anymore. Lady's coat has improved she doesn't shed as much, she doesn't have dander, and her skin allergies have totally disapeared. She also has better breathe and she doesn't smell as quickly after her bath. Both dogs don't suffer from "sick" days anymore either. I love this food."

"I adopted a Golden Retriever from someone who neglected to tell me the dog had allergies. A few days after having her in my home, I went out looking for a better food to see if that was the cause. I turned to this product for all of the natural ingredients, plus the fish would help with her skin and scratching. Within a few weeks I really saw a huge difference. She loved the flavor and she was no longer sneezing, rolling around, scratching all day and her coat looked glossy and wonderful.
The only downside to this product was that it gave her terrible gas which I had read on another review and did not believe. I have since had to change her food to something that her stomach agrees with - no more problems with gas.
If your dog has allergies and their stomach can tolerate this food without producing gas, this is a great product."

Hopes Deflated, didn't work for my Golden Retrieve,

"I was so excited after reading the reviews about this product. I went to Petsmart and purchased a 30 lb bag of the Fish and Sweet Potato. My Golden Retriever woofed it down happily, but by the next day he was chewing on his paws and shaking his ears. I guess it's back to the $75 30 lb bags of Iams Kangaroo and Oat. It amazes me that I can't get a product that doesn't affect his allergies from somewhere other than the vet and for cheaper than $75."

"My Golden Retreiver has really sensitive skin and used to constantly scratch and dig at her coat all of the time. We tried Blue Buffalo and we've been sold on it ever since! Her coat is shiny and glowing and is no longer dry, were before it was dull and dry. I am convinced that this is the best dog food available!!!!!!!!"

"I have 3 dogs, 2 dobermans and 1 mini-dachshund. I first switched my dachshund to the Fish and Sweet Potato formula. She had always had skin allergies and had small bald spots on her hind legs and tail. She also had trouble with food pockets developing and creating dental problems and really bad breath(a common issue for dachshunds). I have always fed her premium dog food. I tried different formulas to help with her allergies & food pocketing with varying success. When I switched her to Blue Buffalo Fish & Sweet Potato I noticed an improvement in her coat within 2 weeks. After 6 weeks her bald spots had disappeared. She absolutely loves the food, she does a little food dance every time we feed her. Its the only food she has ever done that for in 9 years.
I fed my dobermans a premium large breed puppy formula from day 1 (they were 7 weeks old). The dobs did well on the food, but they always had a funky smell even after a good bath. They are 10 months old now and have been eating Blue Buffalo Fish & Sweet Potato for 2 months. After 3 weeks the smell was gone. I have read that the "smell" can be caused by the corn in dog food. One of my dobermans is blue, and they have a lot of skin issues(a condition called Color Dilution Alopecia). Her coat was always a little on the brittle side and she would get small acne spots and dandruff from time to time. now her coat is shiny and silky smooth, all the brittleness is gone and she has no dandruff or acne spots. One of the best parts of the food is I feed much less to maintain a healthy weight & there is less stool to clean up.
I cant recommend this food enough!"

"My 4 year old yellow lab had a problem with loose stools for months. We had to add lots of fiber to her diet to compensate (read canned pumpkin -- expensive). We eventually identified the cause through immunological studies -- she was allergic to the lamb meal in the dog food we had been giving her. Our veterinarian started her out on a hypoallergenic dog food, which cost a fortune. He told us that it was based on whitefish and sweet potato, with vegetables. Browsing through PetSmart we found this Blue Buffalo variation based on the same ingredients. Daisy really goes for it, with gusto!! She has no problem any more. When we told our vet that they had Blue Buffalo at PetSmart, he flipped, saying it was one of the best foods available and that he was totally surprised it is available at PetSmart. They now get if for dogs in his animal hospital."

"i am as much in love with this food as my dog is! before i switched her to BLUE i would have to sit with her to make sure that she ate all of her food. . . .now, however, as soon as i put it down, ITS GONE! Also, my dog is part cocker spanial but she has all of their skin issues! Within 3-4 weeks after useing the fish and sweet potato food they all but disappeared! like i said before, i Love what this food has done for, not only my peice of mind, but for my dog. "I found this brand by accident on my first day at work at a pet supply store because the cat food (Blue Buffalo Spa Select) has silly celestial illustrations on the packaging. When I looked at the ingredients, I was sold! Though my dog had been doing well on another "natural" brand, he still had dandruff and we discovered that his compulsive chewing on his front paws was due to an allergy to chicken. So, I decided to switch brands. His coat became even shinier and his dandruff went away. Plus, now he only chews on his feet when he gets into the cats' food. Just know that ingredients are VERY important. I am not a vet, but I know for a fact that CORN, WHEAT, and SOY are the top 3 food allergens for dogs AND cats. Yet, most "vet recommended" brands use those 3 ingredients and by-products in their FIRST 10 ingredients, while Blue Buffalo uses none. Ever. "Complete and balanced" can mean the equivalent of bread, a multivitamin, and a protein pill, it does NOT mean that it is of healthful origin..... READ YOUR INGREDIENTS!"

"I have 2 dachshunds and 1 was 4lbs over weight (prior food was Eukanuba LIGHT) and one was begining to become over weight (Eukanuba Puppy). I fed them smaller amounts than was was recommended ont he back so I know i was not feeding them too much. After 1 months on the Fish and sweet potato and the Blue buffalo LIGHT formula (i would feed them the LIGHT every other day). The girl that was 4lbs over weight starting loosing weight. Now after 6 months of being on the food she is at 14.5 lbs ( 1/2 lb less than where they wanted her) and she looks great. She has increased energy and does not sleep as much. The little boy is the same way. He has lost 2 lbs and looks wonderful. They both where finicky eaters but with this food as soon as we get their bowls out they go to their rugs and wait on the food. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BLUE BUFFALO BRAND. It will do wonders for your dog and DO NOT PAY FOR OTHER HIGH END BRANDS ALWAYS READ THE INGREDIENTS. Because NATURAL to other brands still include BY PRODUCTS as Blue buffalo does not and it is cheaper. The only reason Vets recommend Science Diet and Eukanuba is because those companies pay vets to advertise for them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!"

THE BEST PET FOOD EVER!,

"I switched from Nutro to Blue almost 6 mos. ago. My Cockapoos wouldn't eat the Nutro anymore. They absolutely LOVED Blue! I started with the Whitefish/Sweet Potato blend and never looked back. Beware of loose stools at first if not gradually adjusting. Backyard cleanup will be alot easier with this product as well due to smaller stools. For a special treat, I simply add some warm water to their daily feeding and they think they are getting the best treat on earth! Of course this product costs more, but in my opinion, its the next best thing to a home made diet for my "babies". All natural ingredients with no preservatives or by products! Gotta love it!"
