I recently adopted an 8 pound Papillon/Shitzhu mix. Once we got her home we realized she has a barking issue. It is very shrill and feels like a knife in the brain. She does not bark much when we are around but the second she is alone or let outside she starts barking. She also barks non-stop when I run the vacuum cleaner. My husband works nights and sleeps during the day so this was unacceptable. She is a wonderful dog in every other way so we thought we would give this a try. I reasearched many bark control collars and had read hundreds of reviews in an attempt to make an informed decision. They all left me on the fence as I conlcuded it works for some and not for others. I figured worst case I would just return it. The size of this product is perfect for my little dog. I sized the collar before installing the batteries. I opted not to cut the excess of the collar until I knew the product worked so I would be able to return it if needed. I just tucked it under the collar with no issues. I turned it on the lowest setting and let my dog outside. There was no barking. Later my husband came to the front door and she let out two barks then stopped. In the past couple of days she has barked only once or twice but was quickly corrected and stopped. Tonight I turned on the vacuum and she went nuts. I put the collar on her, she barked once and that was the end of it. Amazing!!! One of my favorite features is the sleep mode. If my dog is not barking the device goes to sleep to save the battery life which is a huge plus considering one of the biggest issues with bark collars in the reviews I've read is battery life. My least favorite thing about it is occasionally my dog lets out a brief yelp after she receives a correction and it makes me feel terrible. I do not keep it on her all the time. Actually most of the time she is not wearing it. I have been blown away by the effectiveness of this product. I didn't expect it to work but it absolutely did. Will it work for you? Maybe or maybe not. It is definitely worth a shot!
