We have two German Shepherds. Our younger male has never had problem with his weight because he is such an active pup. But our older Female, now 5 (human years :-) ) who isn't as active, had become very overweight especially for a GSD. At about 4 she weighed in a 112lbs. We began to be very worried about her weight considering a GSD's risk for Hip Dysplasia and our vet shared his concerns as well. We began a more active lifestyle for her and us (walks, run, etc.). Our vet recommended the Royal Canin Diet Satiety (which was originally named High Fiber). One year later at her recent vet visit she weighed in at 88lbs!!! We definitely would like her to lose a few more lbs, but she is much happier pup. She doesn't tire playing with our younger GSD. Her stool is much more consistently solid instead of runny. She jumps up into our King Sized Bed easily and just looks SO much better! I definitely recommend this food to anyone with concerns on their pups weight and lifestyle.
Pros: high quality, digestible
Cons: price

I have a dachshund who is eternally hungry. As a result, she became obese (26 #) even on diet foods. After many trials to control her weight gain, her veterinarian wrote a prescription for Satiety Support and she has lost six pounds and is much more alert and active. She still has some weight to lose, but seems so much more healthy and happy since the weight loss. Thank you, Royal Canin!
