The teeny tiny kibble is GREAT! My adult shihtzu never broke the 10lb weight barrier and has itty bitty teeth like a toy breed. I was feeding him regular sized dog kibble, though it was a small breed formula, for nearly two years and just thought he was a picky eater. It took him forever to eat and he'd often give up and lose interest in his food unless I'd soften it for him with water.

Thank goodness my store stopped selling his food because it forced me to look at different brands. This kibble is very small; as in slightly larger then grapenuts cereal small. I thought it was perhaps too tiny for him but I can definitely hear him crunching away as he eats; and wow, can he eat. Poor little guy must have been hungry after all these years!

Oh; and his coat looks MAGNIFICANT! He's been on the Nutro Ultra since February and my parents who only see us once every other week or so have noted how thick his coat has become. He also doesn't scratch, bite at his hind legs or paw at his face anymore. His scratching used to be so excessive that I took him to the vet multiple times to discuss possible food allergies, ear mites, fleas, fungal infections, skin disorders... While it was acknowledged he did scratch an awful lot, I was always advised that he was perfectly healthy and that some dogs are simply 'itchier' than others. Well I know is that since changing his food my dog no longer appears to be "itchier than others" and I'm so happy for that :). I would highly recommend giving this food a try if you have a tiny dog.

Toy breed size ... great idea!!!

I have been using the small breed size of the NUTRO® ULTRA™ Adult Dog Food. My toy poodle was very picky and slow with her eating. She loves the tiny bites and is eating much better. I think the small breed was just too big for her.
