I bought this eight weeks ago as a replacement for my elderly german shepherd when her old leash finally gave out after ten years. She may be a big girl, but she has long outgrown pulling on the leash, chewing on the cord, tangling herself in the bushes, or anything else that should cause undue wear and tear.
This leash worked okay for the first month or so. It would get hung up once in a while and I'd have to give it an extra tug to get it to reel in properly, but nothing too major. And I figured for the price that was acceptable.
And then this morning, out of nowhere, the leash just snapped. All of a sudden one end was attached to my dog's collar and the other was retracted right inside the handle, and nothing was connecting the dog and the handle and me. Fortunately, she's well trained enough that she realized something was wrong and came straight to me, but if she had decided to bolt or been spooked by something...
I could see a cord fraying or snapping if she had chewed on it or gone charging through a brush pile, but no leash should just suddenly snap when a dog is quietly standing around sniffing things! Buy one of the other brands instead of this one.

This leash was horrible! We bought two, one for each dog, and both didn't work within two days.
I made sure to go up a size, weight wise, to dodge issues. Well, that didn't work. I have a 9 lbs and a 14 lbs Mini Schnauzer, and they are both too much for these. Buy another kind. :C

I use this lease for my Yorkie and fine it to be very light weight, easy to use, and does not get tangled like the other brand retractable lease, I had to get rid of. Just wish the length was a little longer. I would recommend this lease to others.

Not worth the price. Very cheaply made. I bought the one for a 20lb dog. currently I use it for my 7lb Cavapoo puppy. After the first couple of days of use it no longer locks correctly. It will lock but when pulled on it will unlock. Will not be buying one of these again!!! Waste of $17.

I have bought several of these leashes over the years so never even considered another brand when I ordered a new one. Imagine my surprise when it arrived and wasn't even close to the usual quality. Why a company would change a dependable leash that was more than worth the cost into something that breaks after a few uses is beyond me. I have started buying the leashes for my Dog Boarding business elsewhere.

I purchased this leash on a Tuesday and it broke on Thursday - while walking a 12lb bichon. It appears the tape frayed and snapped after using maybe 5 times. I think Pet Smart needs to take a look at this product immediately --

There are some retractable leashes that you cannot really trust. This is one of them. The one part of the leash if you look close enough at the image the nylon cable like part is prone to fraying and eventually snapping. My family experienced using this for a young Cocker Spaniel. After a few months it broke. The nylon cable was fraying and the locking system stopped unlocking so it was stuck in one position. Don't trust these with dogs at even 20 pounds because we have a 20 pound mix and even she could break this easily. Use a trusty, more reliable brand to get your retractable leashes from. So if you do not want your dog to run away, use a stronger type of retractable. I do not recommend.
