I have been using a long extendable leash since I got my yorkie mix a little over a year ago. Forest enjoyed the extendable leash but I never felt like I had much control over him and he would just veer all over the place. With this new leather leash, his walking style has completely changed. He trots along merrily right beside me, and when he is taking too long at a tree all I have to do is one swift tug and he is back in line. And there is no fight when we turn about to go home.
Forest just seems to know this leash means business and I feel very safe using it. The quality is amazing. It is very strong, thick and sturdy. I love the embossing and red stiching, it is really cool and stylish. We are purchasing another one for our new puppy and can't wait to teach him to walk on the leash with this awesome Pets Rock product.

Went to PetSmart two weeks ago to get a new leather leash. Just plain double-sided leather. The kind that starts tough and then gets more pliable the more you work with the dog. It was one of the first leashes I got my 120 lb black lab when we were taking puppy-kindergarten classes at PetSmart.
I looked and looked. Only ones that were similar to that staple of dog training? These Bret Michaels' leashes.
Embossing? Stitching? Overly priced? Unnecessary celebrity endorsement that doesn't go towards charity? Celebrity that I DON'T associate with animals or animal welfare AT ALL?
I'm incredibly disappointed with this. Not so much that these exist but that all normal leather leashes have gone in apparent EXCHANGE for these! Even the AKC one that I settled for was only a single layer of leather.
I've been loyal to PetSmart for toys and training (both cats and dogs) but am tempted to never visit again since I can't get the good quality basic products that I've gotten in the past.
Also, these details on leashes and collars? I don't need my dog to look scary. I'm fighting bias against big black dogs every day and have trained him to be gentle friendly and passive. The basic strong leather leash has aided me in that training.
