Highly recommend this over the traditional plastic hard cone. The animal is still restricted from wound area yet can rest peacefully. I couldn't stand to see my Syd not be able to get rest after his surgery. Worth a bit more just so he could be a bit more comfortable.
Buying this again for my daughter's dog after her surgery.

We recently rescued the husky and she is underweight. She was able to squeeze thru the wrought iron fence to get out of our yard. This is a good solution to keep her in the yard until she puts on a little weight. This works perfectly for that and she tolerates it well. The only complaint that I have is that when she plays with our other dog he tends to grab onto the inflatable collar and he has punctured it. We have had to replace it already and I will probably have to again before she no longer needs it.
If it wasn't for the fact that it punctures easily I would have given it the highest rating.

My dog was SO miserable in the giant plastic cone. He refused to sit or lie down- just stood looking at us with a face that killed me. I bought the inflatable even though the guy at PerSmart said it may not suffice for a wound on the back leg as he may still be able to reach it. I risked the $37 anyway and it was worth every penny! The dog's attitude changed right away. He can almost reach his wound but not quite. At least he can eat and drink and has a built in pillow for sleep. What a relief!!!

I have a 10 month old 92lb dobie who was just neutered and had growths removed from his mouth. He destroyed two plastic cones (one from the vet and a kong one) within the first two days and so as a last resort I bought this thinking he may mind it as much and wouldn't run the chance of ruining the sutures in this mouth. Well he didn't mind it but all it functioned as is a permanent portable pillow for him. He had no trouble at all reaching his neuter incision. I tried a large and an extra large and neither worked though the extra large was massive even though he's an extra large in every other product bought for him. So in the end it functioned as an expensive inflatable neck pillow for him. Not worth it unless you have a short dog with a thick short neck. I ended up wrapping a towel around his neck and securing it there with Velcro and it worked like a charm.
Cons: price, didn't work

I bought this in an attempt to prevent my 90 lb German Shepherd from aggarvating his hotspot which was located on his right hip area. I went with the suggested size and it was to big in fact, if he'd figured out how to slip it over his head he would have succeeded. He managed to still reach the spot and continue to inflame it. This form of a collar may work for some, but it didn't seem to for me. I did like to comfortable it was for my dog and it did allow him to see. Thankfully I returned the collar and Pet Smart refunded my moeny.
Cons: didn't work

Although this product is meant to keep a dog from biting healing wounds, I use it on my Dachshund mix, Lily, as a way to keep her from squeezing through the my horse fencing and leaving the yard. She runs and plays with it on, and I no longer have to worry about her leaving the yard and wandering off as she was doing before. She does not wear it in the house!!! It is perfect!

I have a little dachshund...short legs, long body and long nose. The plastic collar just wasn't working, She couldn't walk, couldn't see, couldn't drink water and couldn't get comfortable. I didn't know what I was going to do. I couldn't leave her for work. Then I bought this collar. She liked it from the moment I put it on her. She can't reach the wound on her back leg to lick. However, she can walk, eat and even go up and down stairs. The collar is like a pillow and she sleeps comfortably with it on. With this protective collar I feel confident I can leaver her while I go to work. My only complaint .. it is bit expensive, but this protective collar was worth every penny in peace of mind and comfort.

I recently purchased this product as it was recommended by my dog's vet. Previously she would use the plastic cone and was able to chew and lick with it on.
The inflatable collar is more comfortable for her and she is not able to chew or lick. It is easy to clean and can be used by her or her brother.
I recommend this product. We give it two paws up.

Better than a cone for some injuries.

I thought I might write a review to help anybody deciding whether to choose this product or a traditional plastic cone/e-collar. I highly recommend this product for a dog that is healing from any bodily injuries/surgeries. My 1 year old pit bull did not adjust well to the plastic cone but actually seemed to like her inflatable collar. She seemed to enjoy having a built in pillow wherever she went! It worked great to keep her from licking her spaying incision. HOWEVER, she also had her dew claws removed on her hind feet at the same time as the spaying and even though I sized up she was still able to reach and lick those incisions. So we still had to use the plastic cone overnight or when we weren't home to supervise her.
So in summary,
Bodily injuries = YES, I definatly recommend this product.
Injuries on the feet or lower legs = NO, this product will not work unless your dog has extremely short legs.
