I got this for my pig and she loves it! It doesn't wear down fast when she chews on it, and I feel better about her nibbling on it then I do brittle plastic. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Sleeping piggy loves hut

I bought this hut because I like the more natural look instead of the plastic houses. I also like that it is not plastic, so my piggy is not nibbling on that crud. He curls up inside and sticks his head out and naps, he is so adorable! Very cute for the cage, natural so it doesn't hurt my baby, definitely a great buy!

Love the natural look of the tree-trunk. My pigs love to hide and sleep in it. They do tend to chew on the outside of it, so I ended up having to buy them a Snack Shack house.

Best Nesting Box for Rats!!!

While the package only really emphasizes rabbits and guinea pigs, these things, I'm convinced, were really made for rats. My girls have one, and it was an instant hit. In the past they had nested inside various cardboard boxes like cracker boxes, shoe boxes and tissue boxes, but those get soaked in urine and have to be replaced frequently. This is made of a wood composite with resin that is very thick, and therefore almost impossible to chew. It's very cleanable. I just take it out of the cage and use Nature's Miracle pet odor wipes to wipe it out and it's good to go. It also has a nice platform on top that is perfect for my rats. They love standing on it and observing their world or playing king of the hill on it. All three of my females (two fancies, one dumbo) can and do fit in it to sleep. They will not sleep anywhere else. They love to pull orchard grass and strips of newspaper in there to make a nest. It really is the best thing for rats that I've ever seen and totally worth the price.

My guinea pigs love their treetrunk hideout. I love the way it looks (much better than those igloo ones). Very sturdy and doubles as a chew toy from time to time which is great because I have yet to find any guinea chews they will actually use.

Stupid idea

Stupid idea this thing takes your guinea pig away from you. Also your pet will chew on it in the night and make a loud noise so if your cage is in a bedroom you will never get to sleep. I have pulled the hider and shelf out of cage and never put it back in so i can see my guinea pig. two good things looks nice and is durable.

When i first saw this in the store i thought this is such a cute idea and i'm sure cavy ancestors did hide out in tree trunks long ago. So i decided to buy the one that was left. As soon as it was in the cage the guinea pigs were very curious and in it in no time. Even though they had a pigLoo they now were fighting about this new hide. Once we built them their new c&c cage i went to my next closest PetSmart and bought another one. Needless to say both guinea pigs are very content and love laying down in these great hides and they certainly know who's is who's. Also the price point for this product is excellent. I highly recommend this to anyone new to small pet care or those looking to upgrade that worn out pigloo. Its also a good eco-friendly product made of mixed wood and plastic recycables. The other thing that I like is its a little heavier so they can't be shoving it all around the cage it really stays put.
