This tank is one of the coolest tanks that I have ever owned. I live in an apartment so I am forced to be modest in my aquarium sizes. Its nice to see a kit where the company actually paired a filter with some balls to the appropriate tank. The back cover that houses the wires does take some time and patience to correctly fit in place, but if you have half a brain then this task will be of little trouble. The white LED lighting is very clean and the blue LED lighting will dazzle any room that its in. If you want a brilliant looking tank for under $100 that doesn't take up an absorbent amount of space or look gaudy, then this is the tank for you.
Pros: easy to install, easy to clean, sturdy

Interesting but flawed design; shoddy workmanship

As another fish-familiar reviewer here pointed out, this tank is rather interesting to look at however it's difficult to assemble and certain parts seem almost as if they are not going to fit together. The pump's highest-velocity is so intense that the fish are in a constant struggle to maintain themselves; the setting must be lowered a great amount. The nice blue or white LED lighting is great...while it worked. On week 3 of ownership, the blue LEDs just all went out. I checked the odd wires used for voltage and they're connected correctly. The white ones still worked at full brightness...for 4 more months. Now one set of them is out completely, and the remaining ones are so dim you cannot tell they're even on in the daytime.
I actually love the design, having had many, many aquariums over the last 30 years, but the workmanship here is very disappointing. As the other reviewer noted, it is NOT easy to clean this aquarium without disassembling at least part of it to do so.
Spend more for this style from another manufacturer.

Awkward aquarium

My son received this aquarium for his birthday. Luckily I have had 20 plus years of fish keeping experience as it was needed in putting this aquarium together. It is akwardly designed and putting the filter together and hanging it on the back of the tank was a challenge. It has a filter cover that is supposed to hide the filter and such in the back but it too is very awkward to work with. The fish are very distorted due to the shape of the tank as well. The cover to the tank does not have any cutouts for the heater that was added. I really hate it when I do water changes and such as I have to take some of this apart and it is a pain to put back together. The fish seem to be doing well but that is the only plus to this tank. I do not think Marineland did their research on this model. Save yourself the trouble and buy another model.
