My pom poodle was barking at night waking us from a sound sleep and our hearts would pound. Then when we put him outside he would bark like crazy at every sound.
I saw this online went right to the store after work and purchased it. The first time he barked he jumped it freaked him out.
Now he barks once and hears that noise and he is done. he does not do that continuous bark that sounds like he is going to attack.
Outside there was another dog barking usually he would go nuts ... nope not with the egg he barked one time only then layed down and enjoyed the afternoon breaze.

I have a yorkie, who doesn't stop barking. I bought the egg thinking it would work. My dog sits under the egg and barks right at. It did nothing for my dog. Will be returning the product.

We have 3 dogs - a toy poodle and two miniature poodles. (When one of them barks, they all bark, so I thought this device would work). The sonic egg works fine on the two bigger dogs, but the small dog barks and doesn't seem to notice the hypersonic sound from the egg at all. I think it must be outside her hearing range.
When the smallest dog barks, the sound from the egg scares the biggest dog. He'll run and hide and sit there shaking like a leaf. He's too scared to come into the living room anymore, even when we turn the egg off, so we have to return it.

If you have one dog, or a big dog, this would probably work, but it seems useless for small dogs.

The device works. My dogs stop barking the instant they hear the sound the egg makes. However, the speaker that receives the sound that tells the egg when to go off is WAY too sensitive even on the low setting. Coughing and the TV set it off on the low setting (even when placed according to the instructions) so I set it up down the hall on low. The receiving speaker is still very sensitive but better for controlling barking in the living room so that the TV and other noise does not set it off. The sound it produced was still strong enough to deter their barking. If a noise other than barking accidentally sets it off, my dogs become terrified. They begin to shake, cry and hide under beds for hours. I have to go turn it on when they bark and keep it off otherwise because it is so sensitive to other noise. I am returning it. It works but my dogs can't handle the noise when it is accidentally goes off and I cant leave it on all the time. It is WAY too sensitive to other noise that sets it off, and that's not fair to the dog

I purchased the Sunbeam Egg for my three dogs who have barked nonstop (or so it seems) since moving to a new home. There are two large cats that walk around my property all day. At first, the device did catch the dogs attention, but ending up with a dead battery in less than week due to constant barking! I did NOT want to try a shock collar but there may be no alternative!

I have a 5 month old cockapoo doesn't bark much but when I leave look out so I was thinking of others when I got this egg anyway, got it, turned it on and my cockapoo hasn't stopped barking yet, I can't even give this thing one star because it never worked, it won't let me post without a rating although it has one star I give it none.

I have had two German Shepherds for 2.5 years now. for the past year, anything that moves beyond the fence would put them into a barking frenzy. I spent 100 in dog collars and at first it helped, but eventually the dogs found a way to either pull them off or simply bust them. I had to do something because I did not want the neighbors after me. I saw the egg online and thought "why not". Got it home, put battery in and hung it outside where they bark at. THIS THING WORKED!!!!!! It has been 4 days since I have had the egg and it has been quiet every time they are outside. For $40, you cant beat the price. Best purchase made when it comes to the dogs.

I was very skeptical about the effectiveness of this "egg". After being reassured I could return it, if I was unhappy with it. I purchased it. IT WORKS!!!! My older lab suddenly decided 2:30 am was her new feeding time and would bark until I got up. Even though I never fed her she continued to do it for 4 straight nights. Spraying with water, etc. made no impression and required I get up to "correct" her. This thing is amazing. The very first night I used it I got a full nights sleep! Worth every penny and one of the safest and least expensive options available!

I have a 2 yr old pit bull with an awful habit if barking when people come to the door. And even though shes sweet as can be, it freaks a lot of people out since she is a pit and has a deep raspy bark. This product certainly got the job done, but a little too well. She is so scared of the noise that she runs into the other room into her kennel and I have to coax her out. I felt so awful! But I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we use the electric fence in our back yard and to block off certain rooms in the house. She has a collar that emits a sound very similar to the one this device makes (so that she doesn't ACTUALLY get shocked). So in her mind, when she hears that beep she knows if she goes any further she will get a little jolt. She is trained very well with the electric fence and has never been shocked (except for the first times in training) but that beep sets off alarms for her.
So, in my opinion, this is a great product, but if you have an electric fence you might want to consider something else. I recently got a remote control "shock" collar that when you push the button, the collar vibrates (like that of a cell phone). There's an option to actually shock but I think that is too inhumane and would make her behavior worse. If you have an electric fence, I suggest looking into a collar like that. So far it has worked WONDERS and doesn't scare her at all!

I was thrilled when I first brought this egg home. I have a Golden retriever that doesn't bark and a beagle that never stops! When I turned this on I had an immediate reaction from both dogs even though I didn't hear a thing. Now I have a Golden that's scared of it and a beagle that barks at it!! If I rated this the first day I would of said it was the best thing ever. That only lasted a DAY!! Save your money.

I have 3 bassets that get super excited and bark like crazy when it's time for a walk. I bought this product, since I have to move to an apartment soon, and it doesn't work. They didn't seem to hear anything, and they just barked away as usual.

Don't waste the money. CHEAP and doesn't work and the hand held was worst. I then bought Pet Safe deluxe Bird House and it's great.

Buy this product. I have a Doberman who is a very determined barker, and this works perfectly. To curb his excessive barking I began to try these anti-bark products, until I ended at shock collar, it being the only effective solution. However recently, even that stopped working, so I had to venture elsewhere. Already having tried everything available, this peaked my interest, especially the price. This egg is AWESOME! Works like a charm, just don't forget to turn it off when you get home or your pup may get a little nervous if you start talking, putting away dishes, etc.
This all being said, I have only used it indoors, but I am excited to try it when we move to house with a yard!

I have 4 small dogs. I moved from a very quiet location to an apartment their barking was excessive. I was going to put the collars on them and was told about this product......It is AMAZING I put it on and instantly they stopped barking. When I was in the kitchen 2 of them came running to my legs and hid.
It has been a week and it is so wonderful that they aren't barking so much.
I would recommend this to anyone that is thinking of the collars do this first I LOVE IT!!!!

We have been frustrated for years with a neighbors tied up dog that barks all night and all day for no apparent reason. Since the owners ignored our request to at least move the dog, we had even considered moving because of it. A Real Estate agent told us about the Sonic Egg and said that she'd used it to help in her listings that had annoying, barking dogs close by. We decided to give it a try. This past weekend we purchased the Sonic Egg and hung it in a tree about 25 feet from the dog. The dog barked twice as we were initially activating the Sonic Egg, then stopped. The next day it barked only once as another dog came on the property. Since then we have enjoyed complete quiet.This has to be the most amazing product we've ever seen. We love it! It really works.

I own 2-years old chihuahua that I got into my care just a month ago. I didn't know that this breed is famous for its tendency to bark, and usually is high-pitched and loud. Sure enough, I got warning of being ticket from city animal control, and another warning from my apartment and was subjected for eviction due to "noises policy".
I was skeptical of this product, but after reading reviews and reassessed all reviews specifically for chihuahua breed and found that every of these reviews showing that this product works.
So, I bought it, and still was skeptical. To that, I added microphone to record the room when I am gone (because dogs are known to behave differently when owners are gone). After assessing recordings for last 7 days, and found that this product WORKS like a charm.
He still bark anyways, but, this time, he only bark once, and the recordings showed a few muffled yelp after the first bark. [It meant that he knows now that it's 'not good idea' to bark because he doesn't like the ultrasound booms].
On 7th day which is today, after comparing with the first recording before I got this product - it shows that he bark at MUCH IMPROVED rate, and he would bark probably once a night (at which I allow it since barking is part of dog's instinct and that is beyond its control - just like we as human can't stop breathing at our will).
So, with this product, I RECOMMEND it for those owners who have toy breed dogs, or probably dogs of the bigger size after chihuahua breed. This product is not answer to control barking, but will be successful if it is being used as 'tool' to your effort. My dog barks due to anxiety of separation which caused him to take in the Alpha role without his knowing it. I tackled that issue down by reinforcing positive behaviour and changing my approach as master, then also used this product to the whole "blueprint" in how to approach my dog. It wasn't an overnight solution, but I noticed the big difference on first night, and further more difference today as 7th day. When it comes to psychology of a dog, this product conditionally trains dog to learn that excessive barking is 'no', instead of you yelling at it.
And lastly, I didn't let my dog to realize that ultrasound was coming from the egg. Whenever I leave, I turn it on while my dog is behind my back, and turn it off when I am home. It WORKS for me, and it WILL work for you if you figure your approach and use this product as a tool. If you are hoping for overnight solution, then I can assure you that there is none - but this product is best comparing to anti-bark collar products because they are 'inhuman' suffering to dogs but this product isn't.
p.s. be careful when you cough loud because that also triggers the egg. Poor my dog for the confusion one night when I realized that my coughing was setting the egg off right before I left.

We have 2 noisy dogs! I set up the Egg and the house was instantly quiet. They are both e-fence trained -- that may have helped. I would highly recommend trying it if you have barkers -- they do let you return in 14 days (with receipt and packaging). But I must say -- it worked the minute I turned it on!!

When I purchased this item, the clerk at PetSmart warned me that it only works on some dogs. Some dogs will bark right through it or get more agitated. On the other hand, some dogs "get it right away." But there is a 60-day return policy if you keep the original packaging (at least when you buy in-store) so what's there to lose?.
I have a 10-month-old chihuaha -- a breed notorious for their barking, and mine's been no exception. If you let him outside he barks A LOT.
I've only owned it for a day, but the difference is like night and day. I put it outside on the back porch on a high shelf we have out there. The dog has, several times, gone outside looking like he was ready to bark his head off, as is his usual MO. I'm serious, normally he will go out there and bark continuously for HOURS no matter what we do and it made me feel like a horrible neighbor.
Well, with the sonic egg in place, he went out, barked twice, then kind of ducked down and skulked his ears like he was hearing something unpleasant. He barked one more time about half as loud, and skulked around some more.
Since then he's been out 3 times, and the first 2 times, he barked once, each time, then did the skulking thing (because I assume the unit went off and he didn't like the sound.)
The third time he didn't bark at all, and he stayed outside for about an hour and seemed to have a very pleasant doggie time out there, enjoying himself as he normally would but without the incessant barking.
We'll see what happens tomorrow, but I think my dog must fall into that "some dogs get it right away" category.
For 33 bucks and a generous return policy I think it's worth trying.
