I tried this food for my cat after her brand had a recall. I found the price reasonable and the ingredient list impressed me. My cat is almost 17 years old and has experienced some urinary tract/bladder issues on other foods so I have to be pretty picky on what she eats. She is a smaller cat and has become frail in her old age and she really enjoys this food and eats it eagerly. We feels she has gained some weight since we switched. I also noticed minimal litter box odor and she has never thrown up. Her coat is good (for a 16 year old cat!) and I would recommend this food!

Not the best, but still better than most

I know a lot of kibble brands are junk & even exclusively contain by-products, but this one is at least better. My cat does love eating this, he can't get enough! The pieces are larger than standard kibble, hopefully encourages chewing over inhaling. My kitty has puked a few times from inhaling it anyway as I saw whole pieces in his throw up, but not recently. I give him smaller, more frequent feedings now.

great product, really helped my cat

My cat was getting these little red spots on her skin where the hair had fallen out, and they seemed to be itchy and she was constantly licking at them and making them stay irritated. First, I made sure to treat her with a good flea/tick medication to see if it was just an allergic reaction to some parasites like fleas. This did not seem to help at all. The last thing I was going to try before taking her to the vet was getting her a better type of food that had good quality, natural ingredients to see if she was allergic to something in the food I had been giving her before. I purchased the Nature's Recipe Chicken dry food online and it was shipped to my house promptly. I began feeding her this and within the first two days I noticed that she had stopped scratching and licking constantly at the irritated red spots on her neck and back. It has now been 7 or 8 days and I can tell that she has stopped gnawing at the itchy spots and her hair is beginning to grow back. This product is reasonably priced and it seems to have really helped my cat!

TO THE PERSON WHO RATED THIS 1 STAR!!
I just want to inform you and all the other people that might read your review and think bad about this food that the information you provided in your review is not correct. You said how this food says on the front that is doesn't contain by product meal but then contains chicken meal which is rendered parts from chicken so they are lying. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE. Chicken meal and other meat meals are completely different from by product meal. Chicken meal is simply ground up chicken and contains a much higher protein level then just plain chicken which cats need a lot of protein. Chicken meal does not contain any feathers, heads, feet or any of those kind of parts that by product contains. It's just skin and meat and everything is completely cleaned and safe. My cat loves this food and is a very healthy choice with simple ingredients. Please do research first before you make claims.

Considering all the bad cat foods sold by so called "premium" brands, I was willing to pay extra for a higher quality ingredients. I made a mistake of not checking based on the front package claiming, "No meat by-product meals," and a company whose slogan is "every ingredient counts." Do yourself and your pet a favor and check the listed ingredients in the back of Nature's recipe. 2nd listed ingredient is chicken meal, which is a product of rendered animal parts, from legally permitted diseased chickens. Consumers who are health conscious about the food they feed their pets, look elsewhere.

I have been looking for a grain free food for my cat and have tried various brands, but each one did not agree with him, but this food is great. Not only does he LOVE eating it, but it agrees with him, too. I would definitely recommend this food.
