I have a cat with CHRONIC DIARRHEA!!!! This is THE ONLY THING ON THE PLANET that has finally STOPPED the soupy diarrhea!!!!! He is such a happy cat now! Playful, has solid stools, and goes in the litter box now! Finally, a solution to his medical problem! The vet couldn't even fully help him, we've tried liquid medicine, powder medicine, probiotics, we've tried all the "digestive help" foods, we've tried everything...nothing helped form his stool, or make him less gassy. UNTIL WE FOUND THIS PRODUCT!! I want every pet owner with a cat with a diarrhea problem to know about this food! Thank you so much for creating it!!!!!!!! This is the only thing I will ever buy for my cat again, and he LOVES THE TASTE! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!! You should let all Animal Hospitals and Clinics know about this food, to tell their patients! I noticed a change in my cats stool and attitude within the FIRST 24 HRS!!!! It is a MIRACLE FOOD! I cannot thank the creator of this product enough!!!
Much to my surprise, my 6yr old feline had a bad allergic reaction to this food. He's been on grain free formula for some time, but this was the first time he had this specific one. Never once in his life has he had an allergic reaction before, hence my concern.
He became lethargic, excessively thirsty, and mowed non-stop. Nothing was comforting him. He drank 5 LARGE bowels of water in less than 12hr period. As a concerned pet parent, I switched foods and 12hrs later, he was his old self again.
I highly recommend manufacturer does better labeling and description of their product.
How often do you shop at PetSmart?A few times a year
Pros: My cats have been eating this formula for about 4 months now and their skin & coats have improved dramatically. They are maintaining healthy weights & have normal stools, and they absolutely LOVE the taste! Great food!
Con: This food is much more expensive than comparable grain free diets. If it wasn't for my work discount (I work at a vet's office), I would probably stick to Katz N Flocken by Solid Gold. While, I have seen improvements in health since switching, the price is so much greater that I feel it wouldn't otherwise be worth it.
I have two siamese and my younger one won't even touch cat treats, but he took to this Science Diet Grain Free food right away!! I was thrilled. I started mixing 1 part Grain Free to 3 parts of their regular Science Diet dry and weaned them over......the mixture now is like 90% Grain free and I see my picky eater over there at the bowl (I free-feed) several times a day. His weight has maintained at about 11 pounds.
My other cat eats everything......he is 15 pounds and he regurgitates often and doesn't know when to stop, so I let him get a few mouthfuls and then nudge him away from the bowl. This has cut back on the barfing 99% because of this!!!
Kudos to the Science Diet company for creating this food, as I have suspected for a long time that my younger cat has been having issues with corn in his foods. Hill's did send me a 5 dollar off coupon when I wrote to them from their website about the price of the Grain Free.
My cat is not a picky eater, but he does not eat very much, as a result he's thin, even though he gets free feeding. We also give him wet food once a day, which he also only eats a small portion of on most days.
With this new food, he eats ravenously, just mouthfuls at a time, which I have never seen him do before. He loves it, and his stool volume has actually decreased by about half from what it was when he was eating less.
The kibble is nice and small, which provides a lot of area for scent from the ingredients, and allows for him to take in more than one kibble at a time. I bought the large bag because there was a special price and mail in rebate, and I am so happy that I did. We are about halfway through the bag, and he still loves it.
The vet says its a good thing that he is thin, but I had the impression that he was getting thinner, and I don't want that.
I also like the reassurance that Hill's is precisely balanced, because unlike humans, an indoor cat only gets what we feed him. I am extremely happy with this food, and we have tried many from a wide range of prices and formulas.
I feel this food does contain good quality, excellent even, but I also feel it's just a new variety to try and go along with the new grain free pet food fad.
This food contains potatoes as a substitute for grains. While this may be great for cats with any grain sensitivity, it serves no nutritional purpose. The addition of veggies and fruits are supposed to add nutrients. However, the carrots are nearly a waste in cat food because cats cannot convert beta-carotene (plant-source of vitamin A) in to vitamin A to be used.
I will say that my cat loved this food. She was ravenous for more, and ate every bite every time. She loved the flavor, texture, and size. Sometimes the size and shape of cat food is bothersome to her, but these small, round, flat pieces seem to suit her fine.
While she ate this food, her stool volume became larger and there was more of an odor to it. That told me that a lot of the food matter was just passing through, thus, being wasted. I was careful in measuring her daily allotment, so I know I wasn't overfeeding her.
I feel this food would be good for certain cats. Those with specific grain or protein allergies/sensitivities, cats who need to gain weight (food is high in fat), or even picky cats. But for my cat, I find it to be too expensive for her daily feedings.
