I bought this litterbox before ever getting my kitten, with two thoughts in mind. One to help keep the litter in the box, and the other to keep the dogs out of the contents. My kitten was only 8 weeks old when I got it, and I only used the bottom part the first week. A week later, she was able to jump up and into it with the top on it. She has used it faithfully and we (the cat & I) have no problems with it. I like the top entry rather than a door, and the grate to remove any litter left on her paws. She seems to like the privacy. I have no problem taking the top on and off to clean litter.

I've used this brand of litter box before so getting the lid on and off wasn't the issue. My cats refused to use it. One of my 6 month old ones got in and his head was sticking way out of the hole! They went and sat in their old litter boxes until I put the litter back. They would have almost had to lay down to go in this one comfortably. It definitely went back to the store! They didn't even use the grated part either. They jumped out of the hole right on to the floor.

Not only do I love the fact that there is no litter everywhere, it keeps the dogs I watch sometimes from eating the cat poo! Probably not the intended perk but I live it.

I was so tired of sweeping up catlitter in my bathroom and their catbox had taken over so that my guests couldnt even use it without stepping on litter and dragging it all over the house.
Now there is <1% of it on the floor over a week from what it use to be.

I purchased this litter box because of the design. With the front entry boxes my girls had a tendency to squat very little and stick their tails out the entry. In this position half the urine would be in the box and half would be on the outside of the box. With every front entry box this problem was persistent. The design of this box forces them to urinate more towards the center of the box and away for the edges. I LOVE THIS LITTER BOX SO MUCH I WENT OUT AND GOT A SECOND ONE! You need to learn how the lid snaps on and off but as soon as I figured out the trick it is very easy to work. This by far is the best litter box on the market. I have owned kitty cats for 30 years and this "IS" the best one I have ever purchased!

This is the best litter box I've ever owned. There is very little, to no tracking at all on the floor around the box. I don't have the leaking problem because my cat doesn't use the box like that. I also don't have a problem getting the lid off. It is a little snug but I can do it one-handed so I don't find it to be a problem.

I purchased this box several weeks ago and so far have had no major issues. The lid is difficult to place on and take off but there are marks on the lid where the tabs are that snap and you just have to snap them backwards to get the lid off. Once I figured out this trick taking it off was much easier and haven't had issues since.
Several reviewers have mentioned a gap and I have noticed that there is a gap between the lid and the box. My cat squats to do her business so I have not had any issues with her urine getting outside of the box but if you do have troubles with that this might not be the box for you.
I love that there is a minimal amount of litter outside of the box because the lid keeps her from spilling any when she is scratching around - and I also love that it doesn't matter where in the house I place this box, the dogs cant get inside! I woud highly recommend.

I bought this litter box for my cat and love it,first I thought she wasn't going to fit in it as she weighs 16#'s but she uses it more then the one she has out in the garage. The meshlike plastic top cleans her paws as she leaves,and is hardly any litter mess.

I bought this litter box for my new cat when I discovered that she was really messy in the litter box. I have a small apartment and the litter box is in the bathroom, so it was really annoying when she made a big mess kicking her litter all over the place. With this it not only kept all the litter in the box, it also keeps it out of sight. She also seems to like it because she can sort of hide in it while she does her business. My only complaint is that it would be nice if there was a latch to hold the two pieces together. Sometimes they slip out of place because the top just sits on the lower section. Other than that a pretty decent product for the price.

I purchased this last month and it is absolutely wonderful!!! I use this with Natures Miracle Intense Defense Litter & I have no more tracking or slung litter. And the dogs can't breach the opening no matter how hard they try. As far as the lid goes, it is simple to open when done properly. I grab snaps from above on opposite sides and pop them both at the same time then continue all the way around until they are all open, easy peasy. I'm purchasing another one for downstairs.

Finally a litter box that traps AND recycles the litter from my boys paws as they exit the box!!! The lid locking system definitely needs a design change, but not having to constantly deal with litter trails all over my wood floors makes this box worth its weight in gold to me. I found EverClean Extra Strength Unscented litter works the best at annihilating odor, but tracking was a big headache --until I found this box. If Whisker City would include and/or sell a scooper designed with a greater angled head for quick scooping via the top hole (in between full litter changes), this would easily be a 5-star litter system.

this litter box is a total waste of money. the lid does not fit properly, and leaves such a gap that my cats urinate through it & onto the floor. i've never experienced anything like it. nightmare. AVOID - DO NOT BUY.

I went to Pet Smart to purchase the Clever Cat top entry litter box, however; I was told that it was discontinued and Pet Smart no longer carried the item. Instead, I purchased this litter box and after one use was disappointed because the urine leaks through the seem where the top and bottom come together. Also, it is impossible to remove the lid from the base. I am very disappointed with the product for the price I paid $35!!!

Apart from being incredibly difficult to take the top part off and snap it back on, there is a small gap that forms between the top and bottom parts. One of my cats often urinates on the very edge of the box, and already 3 times in the 3 weeks that we've had this box, we've seen urine leak out from that space and get all over the floor and under the litter box. This is unacceptable in a litter box.

Great size and the grid works well, but the lid is so tight we can't get the thing off to clean the box. Because of the lid issue, I can only recommend this box if you can get the lid off before you leave the store. The cat prefers it to another top entry box that has a grooved lid.
It would be great to have liners for available for this box...maybe sifting liners?
