I used to have various throw rugs in front of the litter box, and none of them seemed to catch all of the cat litter. I found this in the local PetSmart and have been thrilled with how well it catches the loose litter from the cat's feet. There is absolutely no litter on the floor anymore!
The mat is a bit difficult to clean, but the hose attachment of the vacuum eventually picks up the trapped litter. I won't ever go back to using a throw rug.
