I purchased a Kong Go Leash for each of my dogs. I love the way it fits in the palm of my hand. It is not bulky like other retractable leashes, and the wrist strap provides an extra measure of security. I highly recommend the Kong Go Leash for its durability and convenience.

I got this leash specifically because my kids want to be able to walk the dog. They can wrap the wrist strap around their wrist, and hold on easily with their thumb through the hole. The 'grippy' stuff makes it easy to hold and comfortable in the hand, and all of my kids (even the 4 year old) can operate the lock switch. It's comfy for me and my husband too.

I love this with my 17 pound maltese poodle. After I used it for a day, I bought a second one in case the first broke.... 6 months later it hasn't though. :)
I was afraid that the 8' leash would be too short but it's perfect for walks and going disc golfing.
The lower reviews on this product are from people using larger dogs. Obviously it's not made for pit bulls and dobermans so don't buy this if you've got a larger dog.

small, light retractable reflective leash

I actually made an account here just for this one review. I really hope they continue to make these.
This is a particularly good leash for people with smaller hands and who prefer to keep things minimal.
I used this with my 50lb catahoula mix after I felt she was somewhat leash trained and it is great. It does take a little bit of time to get used to the button, but it's worth it to have such a small, lightweight retractable leash that is also reflective! Great for night walking. I don't understand why every leash/collar isn't reflective.
It is very convenient to just loop the handle around my wrist and just walk her like that.
I will say that the cord is a little thin, so if you have a leash chewer, make sure to douse it in sour apple.

I have a Chihuahua mix and instead of opting for the 6ft xs/small leash, I went with the Medium 8ft. leash. The weight was about the same as the smaller leash but I wanted the extra length. It was a good call and it works great. Wouldn't recommend for anything over a medium size dog.

What a wonderful leash!!! It is great in quality. Will not give you rope burns like most retractable leashes. Also, the lock is very strong. The leash works well as a standard leash or a retractable... Want ever buy any other leash again!!!

This was a great product for a city dog. I loved using the leash when running/ jogging with my dog (16 - 18 lbs terrier mix). The 8' leash kept him close, also. Reflective stitching on the leash was great when walking him at night - headlights reflected bright!
The leash began to fray near the hook within a few months. We used it about 3 - 4 times a day. I may buy another one and only use it when walking at night or out on a run.

I got the leash for my 45lbs dog to walk her in and after TWO Days of use I hate it. It is not worth the money! It would be fine for a 30lbs dog max.

Doesn't really hold up against my pit bulls, or doberman, or Great Dane. So, overall, not a good product. I love the KONG toys, but anything else KONG doesn't actually work...

KONG(r) On The Go for Hiking

Very light weight and easy to use! o--*^
To lighten the load, I used two of the medium (up to 50 lbs.) 8 foot Kong Palm Retractable Tape leashes on a 5 mile hike with 16 lb. and 22 lb. hyper dogs on Martindale collars (harnesses cause chaffing).
It took a bit to get used to, as there is no handle on the leash, only a thumb hole. The extra wrist strap makes it easy to attach to a fanny pack, belt or clip on with a carabeiner.
Once I got used to using the thumb lock switch, to stop the tape leash from extending or retracting, the leashes worked well.
The only problem was the time it takes for the leash to retract. Could use a bit more power behind it. But considering how small the item is, it worked well.
Much better than when I was using two of the regular retractable leashes which are heavier, bulky and make alot of plastic noise when attached to the fanny pack. Also, the shorter length makes it easier to control the dogs when on a narrow trail with the dogs walking in front of you.
These will be my leash of choice when hiking from now on.
