After many months and gobs of money spent on the traditional well advertised flea remedies THAT GAVE LITTLE TO NO RESULTS- I decided to try Capstar. Although our cat basically refused and repeatedly spit this pill out even wrapped in ham, we were able to to get it down. After about 45 minutes she was scratching, digging, biting and going nuts- as the instructions state this is because of the dying fleas not the med. 2 hours after the pill was given we followed up with Adams Plus Flea & Tick Mist. This kitty has been flea free since. We have combed her repeatedly with a flea comb ever since and have found nothing. I am positive the little blood suckers are lingering in the house in various spots even after intense cleaning, but have FINALLY been able to find a break in the cycle and look forward to a flea free future. This was worth every penny I spent despite being pricey.

I have been battling fleas for a week with two indoor cats. They were getting so miserable and the fleas were getting so bad that I started getting attacked. Did some research and found this product. Decided to give it try because the flea shampooing didn't seem to be working. Gave it to one cat first and just as advertised in about 30 minutes my cat started going nuts. Read the side effects because hyperactivity is one of them. I also bought a flea comb (for people with kids, they are a lot, if not the same as a lice comb). Anyway, I started brushing the fleas off of him and they were just falling off. It was pretty gross but after that he calmed down. Checked him an hour later and very few fleas left. I immediately started the process with my second cat. The side effect she got was vomiting not the hyperactivity. Made me worry at first but then she was fine. Thanks to this product I can see the light at the end of the flea tunnel.

We used this product towards the end of last year because our dog (and cats) had fleas despite our use of topicals. This product was recommended to us by a PetSmart sales associate after we told him that our dog's fleas became immune to Frontline and any other generic Frontline product. Capstar worked great AND it's safe for BOTH dogs and cats-- a definite plus!
Sport, Topaz, and Onyx are back to their old selves and I'm definitely using the product again this year since we haven't found a topical that works (and is safe on him AND the cats) as of yet.

As other reviewers have stated, the product does work. I love this because when I use the topical flea meds, I have to wait 24 hrs after I've bathed them before I can apply. Well, by then if they've gone outside or for a walk, they could have picked up more fleas, and carried them into my home. With Capstar, I can treat the fleas they may have and then apply my preventative without the wait time. My dogs are both small and have no trouble swallowing the little pills. No crazy reactions, either. Great stuff! It's great for quick flea relief for the furbabies, but keep in mind it's not meant to be preventative in any way! To keep the fleas gone, you need to treat the environment and get a flea preventative.

I have been using Capstar for years on my cats Daisy and Angie, and its by far the best flea medicine you can use that doesn't contain an insecticide. My oldest cat, Daisy, gets a reaction to most external flea drops and sprays, even Advantage, so I started using Capstar and her fleas decreased dramatically. When I got my kitten, Angie, I started using Capstar on her and had great results. I do recommend that if you can, use Capstar with the flea pill, Program, so this way, you have something that kills fleas as well as prevents flea eggs from hatching. I have been using both combined for years and have only had a couple fleas a year on my cats.
Pros: easy to use, effective
Cons: price

My cats are indoor cats, never had a flea problem with either of them...until I had to take one to the vet. Go figure, a few days later the war had started with the fleas. I tried everything, bought so many products and still have the fleas...2 months later! My vet told me Capstar was RX only so I didn't bother to look around. I feel pretty dumb now!!! Gave both of them a pill about an hour ago and have found soo many dead fleas already! I am glad I found this product. Couldn't be happier.

WOW…OMG… this is my first review of a product. “CapStar” is magic; I have tried Frontline Plus, Advantex, and Advantage 2. I’ve been treating the yard my homes interior and nothing had curtailed the numbers of fleas from infesting my Cocker Spaniel and house over the summer until; one pill and 45 minutes later when the fleas started falling off my dog. What a God Send. You won’t believe your eyes, truly!

I have an adult mastiff that I rescued a few months back. She has a horrible flea problem. I tried Frontline-the spot on, which has not work for us. The vet recommends Frontline so we have continued to use it but I thought I would try this product thinking it maybe would help get them under control. I gave her the capstar and watched pretty much all day waiting for any signs it was working. I found a couple of dead fleas but the poor thing still had tons of happy fleas. Very disappointed with this product, what a waste of money.

We have been battling fleas for weeks, and our poor dogs were lethargic and "sad". After many bombs, yard treatments, Frontline applications, and intense carpet repellant applications, I was thrilled that about an hour after giving each of them these pills they were both full of energy and eager to go outside and play. We were all able to sleep last night as they weren't scratching and licking themselves. I highly recommend this product. Considering going back to get the type that we can give to our cats!!

My shelties have been suffering to the point I had shaved them, bathed them so much their skin was reacting. I tried everything. They were lethargic from not sleeping. One little pill "capstar" and within an hour they were dead and off them. Their personalities are back to normal and I can love on them without those nasty things jumping on me. I'm following up with advantage II. We are all Happy Campers, thanks Capstar!

We have 3 dogs and our terrier mix, Sprocket, has a severe flea allergy. We found ourselves facing a terrible flea infestation this summer, but after trying multiple products on our dogs we just could not get rid of the fleas and Sprocket had developed a nasty case of dermatitis. About 3 weeks ago, we treated our home and our yard, then I used the Capstar along with an oatmeal bath and a dose of Advantage (our saving grace- I highly recommend it). I've worked in the veterinary field and also as a groomer, and I've always heard great things about Capstar. However, it just didn't seem to be as effective for my dogs as I'd expected. I had the dogs stand in the bathtub, because I thought the fleas would start falling off after 30 minutes, but that never happened. It did appear to make the fleas a little woozy, so I gave it 3 stars for being somewhat effective. I do think that the Capstar probably helped to an extent, but I believe that Advantage has ultimately been the most effective tool in our battle against fleas. Thankfully, all the pups are finally flea-free and happy as can be!

I can say for sure that this pill works wonders. Back in the day there was a time when I couldn't afford monthly flea prevention for my indoor only cat. She still managed to get fleas, and she got them BAD. You could see them crawling around her ears when she was sitting with you...disgusting. I ordered Capstar for her and gave her the pill, and then shut her in the bathroom on the tile floor, and waited. I think it was literally within like 30 minutes, the floor began to look like a flea battlefield. They were obliterated. Of course, I still had to get Advantage for long-term eradication, but to give your pet quick relief from a large infestation, I recommend Capstar.
