I love this tank, I got it on sale today at petsmart for only $55! Amazing deal! I had planned on getting the Top Fin 10 gallon goldfish starter kit because of all the stuff it came with, this tank came with all of the same stuff, was 2x the size and only cost $6 more because of the sale! It was a no brainer! It was super easy to set up and is gorgeous! All you need to add is gravel, décor and fish!

About 6 months ago we decided to get an aquarium. After extensive research of 10 gal. tanks, we landed on the Marineland Bio-Wheel LED 10 Gallon Aquarium Kit. We are SO disappointed. After assembling it, the pump would not work. We had to take it apart and reassemble it several times to get it to work. We've NOT even had it a week now and the seams leak!! Drip, drip, drip. The water ruined the large wood cabinet we had placed it on. With the significant price of this tank, it seemed a shame to toss it. We went back to the pet store and bought aquarium sealant in an attempt to repair it in order to save our fish. What a waste of time and money! Will never buy Marineland again!

I have had my aquarium up and running for 5 weeks. At first the pump made a vibrating noise but in a short time the noise stopped and is very quiet. Light was a little tricky assembling. Put aquarium cement arount the light's plastic shield to help prevent condensation and rust on the light unit. Very happy with this product thus far.

I bought this aquarium to upgade from my old one with a UGF. I got it for a great price considering it has a heater which most starter kits do not. I have just set it up today while it cycles so currently have no fish. I will break down each component so people will get a better idea of this aquarium.
Tank: Although the tank itself is good quality, the assembly was poor. The sealant/glue on each seam was VERY noticeable and the bottom piece of glass was glued in unevenly so although the tank itself sits level, the interior is not. Thankfully once gravel and water is added, the messy seams are way less noticeable.
Heater: Just your standard submersible heater. Only thing I can say is that there is a notch/line where, when adjusted, the temp should be around 78. Instead, it heated my water to 82 so turning it down was needed.
Filter: This was my first time using/owning a HOB filter. I am very impressed so far. It was easy to install for the most part. But what is not said in the instructions is that for use in this 10g tank, you do not need the mid-level intake strainer or the extension tube as this makes the intake too tall for this aquarium. Adding water all the way to where the water exits the filter (the waterfall type part) was needed to kickstart the filter but this made the water level in the tank WAY too high so once the filter was running, I scooped some water out to lower it. Noise wise, it sounds only a little louder than a ceiling fan but the instructions also say to allow for 24-48 hours for "breaking in" so I hope it gets a tad quieter.
Light: I read many reviews directly from the Marineland website where people complained of the lights going out due to moisture. The tank does have a clear lense cover that is pre-installed in the hood but it is not air/water tight. This allows moisture in with the lights which has caused the problem. I knew this when buying the tank so beforehand I cut a plastic sheet protector and taped it to the underside/water side of the lense to create an aitight seal. After running for about a day, I've noticed that the moisture has kind of loosened the tape so I will add another layer of the sheet protector to the top of the lense just in case. I like the brrightness of the day LED lights and I LOVE the blue night lights.
Overall I really like the tank and liked how it came with instructions for every single aspect of installation. The added bonuses of a net, water conditioner, and sample food was great too.

Not recommended for plants, unless your plants are EXTREMELY low light plants. I use mine for shrimp. I had to buy a fluval sponge (cheap) to put over the intake so that the shrimplets didn't get sucked up. The filter is a little tricky to get started, you must "jump start" to get the syphoning to work properly, but well worth the added biowheel. All these issues are rather irrelevant to the common fish keeper. All in all great value.

Fantastic Beginner Tank

Purchased this aquarium set yesterday and right out of the box it was easy to assemble and get started. The LED light and blue LED nightlight is amazing! Coupled with a light and dark blue gravel it really looks great at night and reflects on my floor.
The Biowheel filter is virtually silent. I can't hear it running except for a tiny splashes here or there from the water recirculating. The included heater works very well and keeps it at a constant 76-77 degrees. I used the stick-on thermometer for a day before I went out and bought one that attached to the inside and is far more accurate.
Stocked my aquarium with 3 Zebra Danios today for cycling and they love it! They are constantly darting back and forth and exploring every nook and cranny. Looking forward to stocking more in a few weeks!

It is a good tank for beginners. Looks nice. I like the lighting. Great for an apartment. Can't fit too many fish in a ten gallon, but I made up for the small size with really nice plants and accent peices to look at. I love it. Perfect for someone who doesn't want to do a lot of maintenance.

I bought this tank about 8 months ago to replace my old Eclipse 12. The assembly was a bit tricky (the LED section was NOT easy to attach to the hood itself, thought I was going to break something trying to get it to clip in.)
Beautiful to look at, but about 3 months ago my LED's started having issues. The "daylight" setting keeps dimming on me. I literally have to "jiggle" the toggle switch to get it to come on. Then, without warning it will dim on me again. The blue night light seems to be working fine, but I am really tired of having to constantly play with the toggle to get the white light to stay on. I am thinking about moving up to a 20 gallon set-up but am afraid I will have the same issue with the LED's.

Good For The Money

A great little starter kit. A lot cheaper than buying everything individually. The hood is a little flimsy, but overall makes a nice appearance. We put some aquarium silicone along the outside edges of the clear, removable light cover. Why? We hope to prolong the life of the led lamp, by protecting it from condensation caused by filtration splash. The led lighting is not overly bright, and the moonlight effect is a great bonus.

I got this tank for my son's 7th b-day. It was very easy to assembly. Just follow the simple instructions. The hood was easy and clipped into place and is stable Filter took a second to figure out as it has extra tubes for tanks that are deeper than 10 gallon. When done, the lighting is fantastic. My son loves it and the night light feature is good for a kid's night light. Really cool. The filter is really quiet when the tank is full. All in all, we love it.

Just bought this today. Filter is very poor. Quit working after 4 minutes. Heater does not working properly, makes tank way too hot on lowest setting. Overall very very very poor, would not recommend.

I bought this about a year ago and it is still running very smooth. The only problem is that the LED lights are a bit delayed to come on, but that just started happening recently and they come on after two seconds. The filter is amazing, but just a little hard to put together. I have 4 zebra danios and 3 cory cats in the tank and they have tons of room.
Just a suggestion- you might want to buy a feeding ring, as the current is quite strong. I would not reccomend this for male betta fish because their long fins get trapped in the filter.
Overall, this is a FABULOUS tank!

The Marineland Bio-Wheel LED 10 Gallon Aquarium Kit is amazing. This kit is perfect for beginers. The LED light is beautiful, and it won't disturb you at night because it has a night version which is even more beautiful then the day light. The filter is powerful and great and the heater works wonderful too. The filter is hard to install though because you dont need all the peices to it. Great tank overall!

I love it. The instructions don't really help much but it wasn't hard to put together. The filter is a little noisy but it filters 100 gallons of water in an hour. The filter keeps it very clean and aerated. I definitely would recommend it to you. Its a great investment!!!

I've owned this tank now for 2 months and am already having to replace the LED light. The light that came with the kit rusted and corroded making the light not turn on.
The kit also lacks proper instruction and documentation on the other items included in the kit, such as the water heater and water filter.
Pros: sturdy, easy to clean
Cons: Hard to Install
