Answer to my prayers!

We recently built a house on 10 acres. The current fence is not sturdy enough to keep our Lab contained. It was going to be very expensive to replace the whole fence, and I wasn't interested in using an electric wire along the entire thing. The soil is very rocky, so an underground invisible fence was not ideal either. I decided to try the PetSafe Stay and Play system, and it has been amazing. It took about 3 days of training. I followed the steps, but my dog started understanding after just using the tone mode. I am now able to leave her outside while I go to work. She walks to the boundary and stops, even watching me drive away without trying to follow me. She is safe and I have peace of mind! Also, the battery life of the collar has lasted a long time. I turn it off if she is not wearing it.

We've been using this system for almost 3 months and we love it! We have two dogs with two very different personalities but they have both taken to it quite well. We followed the included training program closely. We went through the entire 2 week program but our dogs caught on so fast we were tempted to let them off leash within a few days. We decided it was best to follow the instructions, but they really got the concept by day 2. Each dog only got the static correction once or twice and has never ventured outside the barrier since.
The reason we got this system was because we had recently moved to a house with over 1 acre but no fence. Our old house had a fenced in backyard. Our black lab is high energy and I was very worried about how he would do without a physical fence, but he is doing so well! He treats the invisible barrier as if there is a brick wall there. He is obsessed with playing fetch but if his target goes out of bounds he won't dare cross that invisible line. I'm amazed and I feel very, very secure each time I let him outside.
Just a few very small notes that resulted in me giving a 4 star review and not 5.
1) The wireless fence interferes with our neighbors' in-ground fence along our back property line. It is honestly stated in the manual that this is a possibility. For us it affects about a 60' line all along the back of our property. Though we knew they wouldn't receive the correction in that area, we set up flags and trained them as if they would be corrected. It worked; our dogs "filled in the gap" and will not go near that area, but I could see how it would cause concern for owners of dogs who are more stubborn or how it could just make someone nervous that there is an area that will not correct.
2) Our second receiver collar failed to charge about 2 months into use. I called the customer service number and with proof of purchase they will replace equipment for up to 1 year from purchase. They were friendly and helpful and shipped a new receiver right away. However I'm a little worried about our other receiver or even the replacement failing in the future at which time we won't be able to get a no-cost replacement. The receivers are expensive.
Overall I highly recommend this product!

This is the COOLEST system EVER! We have a foxhound that loved to wander, and since buying this, we can take her camping, to our cabin, ANYwhere with NO problems. We have had this system for a little over a year, and it has made our dog's life SO much better, we can let her wander the yard front AND back with no worries. Has discouraged her even when cats and squirrels try to tempt her out of her perimeter. Even without the collar she stays in now. GREAT product!

I got this for my Catahoula who LOVES being off his leash but since we have lots of dogs and other distractions near our house and a bit of traffic on our street he needed to be on a leash whenever we took him out. Due to the fact that we are renting our house this seemed like the best option to give him some freedom (and me some peace of mind) without needing to install a fence or dig up the yard to lay the wired kind of invisible fence. What a GREAT product! My dog picked it up very quickly; within a day he had the general idea and within 2-3 days he knew exactly what to do, hear the beep, turn around! I was concerned he would learn to be afraid of the collar (or yard like some people said) but he loves it and gets all excited when we put the collar on him because he knows he is going to get to go out and run around without a leash! Highly recommend!!!

we were at the end of our rope with our 8 year old yellow lab who would push the kids out of the way and bolt to the nearby beach. As a last resort I purchased the petsafe wireless fence system. We are 5 days in and he is happy to stay in the yard.It did not take long for him to figure it all out and now he can roam around our yard with the whole family.I am caustiously optimistic but so far it seems that this is the answer to our problems.
He has only ventured out of the boundary area once and he tucked his tail between his legs and came right back in.It is really amazing. My fingers are crossed that it will only get better but I am really happy with the results so far.

We recently rescued a dog from a local shelter. She was great ...except for one BIG problem ... she was a fence climber. There was no keeping her in. We bought this system and within 1 week had her trained to tone only!

I have searched a long time for the right product because I have a small 6 pound Yorkie that I did not want to get hurt from correction and have a big collar item to deal with! The tone feature and low correction level were exactly what we needed. Collar transmitter is light and dog does not mind it. Our yard is a rectangle and had to place the main unit (unit is very quiet and you don't even know it is there except for small glowing power light) near a rear window to get the proper perimeter distances from the house to allow more distance in the back yard and cut the distance to the road in the front. We set it at about 6.5 to cover area. So you have to tweak it to fit your yard. The first and main task is setting up the proper distance and finding that area so you can mark with the flags. Once that is done, it is a cinch to set up the collar and train the dog. Remember that there is a few feet in that "border area" and if you keep that in mind, you will see that it works perfectly. No batteries to replace. Collar is rechargeable and we have had unit two weeks and still have not needed to recharge.
There is a woods area at the back of our property and we didn't want to dog to wander there and get full of twigs, grass, etc. With the tone, the dog knows he is at the border area and stays away from the edge area because he knows the correction will follow. If we call him, he comes right back away from edge area. The first time he received a correction, it got his attention but did not hurt him. The dog is timid and pretty well behaved so we only have to set it at the 2 or 3 level. The l level is the tone only level used for training.
Great product and with rechargeable battery, I highly recommend particularly due to the cost and mess involved with in-ground systems. Invisible Fence would have cost us about $1500!

I purchase this system for my two dogs. I have a small mini aussi-doodle(12 lbs) and a larger labor-hound(50 lbs). I bought it in October and it worked great at first, then in February I started having issues. The collar batteries didn't keep charged, the light could be red or green and was or was not working. The wireless system will not alert you with the beep if anything is wrong. My large dog started escaping down the street!!! Then the thing would go off randomly shocking the dog, but then wouldn't work when I needed it to. I went online to buy replacement collars and they are about $150.00, which is a lot for a collar that won't work in a few months. I am extremely disappointed. I cannot get a refund and am unable to resell it. I will be throwing it in the garbage! I will be switching to an in-ground system that will keep my pets safe and in my yard.

We have a German Shepherd pup who absolutely refused to stay in the fence. She would climb it and go under it. So we decided to buy the Stay + Play fence. While she is still getting out of the fence she is not leaving our yard. I had her collar off one day and was walking in the yard and she would not go anywhere near the boundary even with her collar off!!!

I was going to get in-ground fence but then noticed that the play & stay now has rechargeable collars and will fit dogs 5 lbs and up. Was very skeptical that it would really work but Ms. Daisy at our local store said we could bring it back if not satisfied and she was very helpful in selecting this for our 2 acres. Let me tell you THIS WORKS GREAT!! The distance is a little bigger than the advertised 105' radius and my metal garage does not interfere with it. The collars charge quickly and last about 7-10 days. We have a 6 lb Maltese and a 4 month Airedale and they do not go out of bounds. Training only took 1 day and the Maltese went running after neighbor across the street, hit boundary, did somersault, and came running back, all on setting 1. They both now will hear audible tone and stop. I am very happy with our purchase and don't have to worry about burying wires or breaks. We have had this 1 month now and should have bought it sooner. It is definetly worth the money and is worry free!
