DON'T waste your money, and possibly your floors on this one. BAD design. They know it too! After a few months, the fountain started spraying water all over the place. I called the company because I didn't have my receipt any longer. 2 people I talked to said they knew very well about the problem already. One person said his did the same thing! I asked for a refund, but they sent another motor. I have used it for about 3 weeks now, and it has done the same thing twice. Woke this morning to find water running down my hallway!! My hardwood floor has already been ruined by this product!! Gotta go buy a different one today. This design is very, very defective. The cheaper ones don't spill, but don't last very long either. Still, that's much better than having your hardwoods ruined. Stay away from this one, folks!

I love this water fountain. I have a very picky cat. Most of the time all I could get her to drink was to turn on the water for her to drink from the sink. She loves the new water fountain drinks from it with on trouble. Great product very quite and easy to clean.

I bought this for our german shepard puppy. Yes i Know its supposed to be for cats but it works for him. He wont drink from a bowl if it has hair or anything in it. Now that we have this the water is consently flowing and clean so he loves it only downsize the water tank is not big enough he drinks a minimum a gallon of water a day. Oh well guess i just buy another.

I have purchased many fountains before and they were all noisy and clumsy. I love this fountain. It's quiet and you the parts are removeable, so you don't have to take the whole thing with you to fill it or take it apart to change the filter.
My little kitty was actually afraid of it, at first. I turned it off and she was willing to go near it. Then, I turned it on and placed her in front of it. Once she saw the running water, she was hooked. I love that she is drinking more water.
Since I had such bad luck with cat fountains before, I was hesitant to spend the extra $, but now I see why this product is priced higher. It's just better than the rest.

I have a cat with FLUTD. I refused to put him on a prescription diet with fillers and mystery meats, so I instead put him on a high quality diet and invested in pet fountains. No problems or surgeries since! HOWEVER....I have had a constant issue with finding one that wasn't a complete pain to clean or would die after a few months. I understand that all of them require maintenance but some designs were just way too tricky. I have tried all the models of Drinkwell, the Pioneer Pet Raindrop and the Petmate Fresh Flow, stainless steel, ceramic and plastic. So, after an extensive history, I have finally settled on this model. It's attractive and has a free flowing stream of water, which the raindrop and petmate didn't have, is pretty easy to clean, is QUIET, and the pre-filter works much better than I had anticipated. I definitely think that I have finally found a perfect fountain that will work for my cat's needs.

I bought this to get my male cat to drink more water. It definitely needs to be cleaned out each week, and pump can get a little loud until it is completely covered in water. It can make a little mess if you aren't watching when you go to put the reservoir back on but i found i can minimize the spill by turning it over right above where you put it in. But for one cat i think it is a really good item.

This water fountain is the only one I will buy. It is the only water fountain that my cats will drink out of and my 3 little dogs drink out of their own as well. It's easy to clean, easy to refill and just easy to maintain in general. The filters are easy to put in and take out and the water stays cold. It's not too loud or anything, either. The price of it is also good-because this water fountain is the best one!

My eight cats use this often and its easy to fill. The only
thing i found is that it collects hair quite readily and needs to be cleaned completely about once a week. Would recommend this to anyone.

I've had the Drinkwell fountain for about 3 months. I was worried about cleaning it after reading some of the reviews, but I ordered the brush cleaning kit and I have no complaints. It only takes about 10 minutes and comes apart and goes back together easily. The only thing I've had a problem with a couple of times is getting the water to start flowing again. I think I don't line up the black tube in the pump hole correctly once in awhile. When that happens I just dump it out and do that part over. I don't have a slime problem. I clean it about every 10 days. My cats love to play in running water in the sinks, so I knew they would love their drinking fountain and they do. I think it's a great time-saver over washing out and filling their water bowls every night, plus I don't have to worry about their water getting stale when we leave town for the weekend.

We've had this fountain for a few years now and absolutely love it for our four cats. It's easy to clean, except for the water container, but we bought a kitchen brush with a flexible head to get into the corners. The water pump is extremely durable as this fountain has run non-stop in our home for years with not even so much as a brief hiccup. It holds the water well so it doesn't create a mess. I would absolutely buy another for our cats whenever this unit dies.

Best pet fountain! Works really well, all 3 of my cats love it. The only problem I have is cleaning it, but that's because we have hard water where I live. would recommend to anyone with cats!

This is a great fountain. My cat has had lots of uti problems and the vet recommended running water to encourage him to drink more and he definitely does. I have had this fountain for about three years and its still going strong.

I had the 'grandfather' Drinkwell that's no longer made, but it lasted 9 years! I bought this one and the cats love it. Ming, my Siamese, won't drink out of a bowl unless he's outside. When he's in the house, it's the Drinkwell or nothing! When I purchased this product, I saw other reviewers said the major expense would come from the filters needed to keep the Drinkwell running smoothly. Well, I've had my Drinkwell for over a year now and instead of constantly purchasing new filters, I use the filtered water out of my refrigerator. I know it's the cleanest water; I have never purchased a filter other than the one that came with the Drinkwell (that I don't use) and my Drinkwell works perfectly. I clean it as instructed but I find no hard water problems to 'gum up the works'. I highly recommend this product, your cat or dog will love it.

I bought this fountain for my cat for Christmas, and we both absoltuely love it. He drinks more water than ever, which is especially good for male cats. It's very easy to clean, and it will bring happiness for him and I for years to come.

When I taking care of my neighbors two cats while they were on vacation, I noticed that they owned this fountain. Both cats loved it, even their shy one. I does not take up much space and is quiet. The water is clean and the cats love it. I'm probably going to buy one soon.

My cats love this. I have multiple cats, so I have two fountains. A couple of my cats like to splash around in plain bowls, but seeing the water fountain on these, they don't do it as much. I do feel that they drink more water using this. It works well as long as you keep it clean. Extra parts can be found through the manufacturer. I've had these two now for two or three years.

I got this because one of my cats liked to splash water out of the bowl. This works great! He will drink from the flowing water and not splash at all.

Of all the fountains, this is the best one....my cats love the arching stream of continuous water and I think that they like the bubbly gurgly noise, too.
The only problem I have is that we live in South Florida...and due to the sub-tropical environment, even in a totally air conditioned house ( we keep it cold, too, like 68* !) the water gets slimy by day 3-4 and it has to be taken apart and washed right away. I also take the motor apart every 2-3 weeks.
If you live in a tropical climate, the algae and slime grows so fast if would be totally unhealthy to clean it on an 'up-north' schedule.
That being said, I could take this thing apart and put back together in my SLEEP I have done it so often ! Its a great product. I just have to run my fingers thru the sides and know right away to clean it when it gets even slightly slimy feeling.
I would very much like to see THIS EXACT model in stainless steel, which would probably require less cleaning and be healthier. I would pay more for it, if the stainless was quite a bit more, no problem, because my cats love it.
