I was in need of sand for raising and breeding triops, and this was the only sand I could find. That being said, I think I will never go back to gravel! It is easy to clean, since waste just sits on top, it gives my tanks a natural look, and so far, I have not had any issues with fish swallowing it. My only issue with it is that it takes a while to settle when I first start tanks, which isn't something I encountered with gravel, but that is something to expect with sand.

First of all you do not want to add this to an existing tank. It will make it a cloudy mess for weeks.. it will stick to everything and make it a real pain. That being said the best way I found to use this is to add it to a new tank and let the filter run for a few hours.. at that point the white haze will fall to the bottom. You can vacuum up most of the white crud and add your decorations and plants. I waited 2 days and to add decorations and fish... I vacuumed it about 3-4 times in the 2 days and all was well. It is definitely worth the hassle, the fish love it and the tank/water has never been so healthy.
