This product is not good. I put them in my two aquaclear power filters. maybe it does take your phostpahet out, maybe it doesnt. who knows. I never tested my water becasue my water has been nothing but cloudy. Pure garbage. If your wanting to get rid of your phostpahet and nitreate because you have a algae problem let me sugest to you this. Its a product called algone. Look it up. you wont be dissapointed. they have beed around for years. this product is fairly new. have a nice day and happy fish keeping

Remove this product during disease treatments. Even various water treatments can cause the ferric oxide to leech out, poisoning your fish. I lost 14 fish after using this during a treatment of parasite medication (only one fish presented with problems prior to treatment). I stopped using it for several weeks. I returned it to filter and noticed the same problems starting to happen again while using a product that is supposed to boost immunity. Something in that product was causing the ferric oxide to leech out as well. Fortunately, I recognized what was happening, removed the Clear Max and did several water changes. I was able to save most of my fish. I recommend using a product that does not contain ferric oxide to control phosphates if you are unsure how it will react with other products you use. This product does provide crystal clear water - but fish health is much more important. I was using it for a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium.

Sometimes you have to think "outside the box" when it comes to fish keeping. I use this product in my AquaClear filter on my 20 gallon freshwater aquarium (which is an add-on filter for me. The main filter is a Rena Filstar xP1. The Rena doesn't have room for all of the products I like to use). Water is crystal clear - nitrites at zero and nitrates manageable (40 to 80 ppm range - which is safe for my fish). I put a new pouch in every two months. It would probably do a better job removing phosphates if I changed it more frequently. It is keeping my phosphates in the range of 10 ppm, which isn't all that dangerous for freshwater fish. I highly recommend this for the AquaClear filters. Very easy to use and more affordable than many other products.
