I love this thing. It really makes water changes easy. I don't think I could maintain my 75g tank without it. However, the plastic is CHEAP and I am always worried I am going to break it. I've used it about 1-2 times a week for a month, and haven't had issues yet. For the quality, it is extremely expensive! However, until someone makes a better quality one, I will stick to this one.

For years I had to use buckets to drain my tanks and do water changes, which is exhausting and a pain in the butt because you have to go from the room to the nearest sink, back and forth. I have a 29 gal, 35 gal and a 10 gal. I would not be able to clean the 29 or 35 without this amazing hose! I use it on all three tanks and I would seriously be lost without it. It obviously cleans the tanks much better than a bucket would, too!

I had a 55 and 75 gallon tank up running and without this I might have gone mad and called the whole aquarium hobby off. This has saved me tons of time, and it is so convenient because it hooks directly to the sink. It's pricey, but I suggest you stop debating and just buy it if you have a large tank. You will not regret it! Other reviewers have stated that the t-bone piece is a little weak. You can go online and buy them at a reasonable price. I highly recommend this product!

I have multiple fish tanks both on my main floor and second story. This water changer is something I cannot live without, because hauling several hundred gallons in buckets is insane.

I hook it up to a main floor kitchen sink and have excellent flow both of dirty water out and fresh water in, even though the fresh water is going up an entire flight of stairs for the 5 tanks up there.

I purchased the 50' model and going home was hoping I'd made a correct financial decision. The first time I used it I smacked myself for waiting 18 years in the hobby to purchase one of these things.

I bought this for 49.99 plus tax. Some one had given me a gift Card so decided why not spend a few bucks and see if it is worth the 50.00. Well let me tell you it is.
I did a 25% water change in about 10 minutes. It use to take me an hour and a half with buckets, I also had to go upstairs above the fish tank just to get the flow to go down to the tank. I used to spill a bit of water every time I went up the stairs.

The only thing I found hard was putting it together after I opened it. I had to watch a youtube video to show me. One thing I will recommend is when you are fitting the tube over the barbs it is easier if you run the end of the tube under hot water to get it to expand easier.

Pros: works great, easy to use

This product Does not work as good as some of the others I have used. It is fairly cheaply made and not worth the price. I would recommend looking up other products. Do some research on this type product and other mfgs before buying this one.

I bought a 50 foot version in hopes it would alleviate me carrying buckets of water out the back door to dump.
The product does work well but here are my complaints. The hose is very inflexible and is made of hard materials making it difficult to uncoil and lay out straight. The hose is not supple but very hard. The inside diameter of the hose does not easily fit the supplied uplift tube and forcing it on is very difficult to the point of almost breaking the tip off.

There is not enough suction to clean gravel and I wouldn't waste my time on this unless you want to use it to fill your tank...unfortunately...it delivers water as slow as it suctions...so, you're really wasting your time with this.

I got one of these a while back somewhere else. I LOVE it. NO MORE BUCKETS!!!! I would not use this on a tank of 10g or smaller but on tanks over 10g it is wonderful. Look on youtube to find out how to use it. Very easy. It does not work with sand or similar substrates. I have a solution to that though. Just put some pantyhose over the tube and it will not suck up your sand but will still suck up the water. I can do a 50% WC (water change) on my 29g tank with this in under 20 minutes. That includes getting the tubes out, setting it up, draining, filling, getting the temp right, turning the filters back on, and putting everything else up. I can not think of a better product to use than this one. I have used the Python brand one before and hated it sooooo much. There are at least 3 companys that make these, but Aqueon is the best of them.

It works well. I have a 60gal with goldfish and it makes weekly water changes easy. My only peeve is the T-piece is fragile. I've broken 2 so far and now I'm not seeing the T-piece available at Petsmart.

I got this after I got tired of doing water changes every week, and I absolutely love it. It makes gravel vacuuming and water changes much quicker and easier. I like everything about it. If I could change anything about it, I would change the part that connects the water changer to the sink into metal, instead of plastic because it seems to get scratched and damaged easily. I would also make it come with a longer gravel tube. I know there is one available for separate purchase, but it would be nice to have it standard.

Great Product -- If you know how to use it

I use this to drain/fill and vacuum my 75g and 30g tanks. This is a wonderful product, well worth the money, but there seems to be quite a bit of misunderstanding about how to use it.

1. Yes the valves and connections are plastic -- treat them gently, you do not need to apply much force at any point.

2. This is not meant to connect to indoor faucets, this seems to be where people have a lot of problems. It fits *beautifully* on any outdoor faucet that you would connect a hose to. Run it from a hose faucet through a window and to your tank and you are good to go.

The vacuum power is extremely good, far superior to the typical siphon. This will suck everything out except your gravel, though it certainly tries for that too. I would be cautious about using this on sand (I don't have any but I have a feeling it may actually be powerful enough to pull the sand all the way out).

Be warned this drains tanks fast. I clean my 75g in two stages just because I don't want to replace 3/4 of the water at once. It's the price you pay for the additional suction power.

*HINT* I don't like the very short tube that this comes with as I prefer to keep as much of my body out of my tank as possible while I clean it. If you already have a long tube (perhaps from a siphon apparatus) just connect the tubing directly to that. You lose the ability to use the secondary valve that comes with this setup, but the only downside to that is that when you're filling the tank you need to shut the water off as soon as you're done as there's no way to stop the flow at the other end.

*HINT* If you need to hook this up to an indoor faucet you're honestly better off making something yourself. All this really is is a T-Valve with one end hooking to the faucet, one end left open for drainage, and the other end going to your hose that vacuums/fills the tank. Go to a hardware store, get something that fits your faucet, get some tubing, and you're good to go.

first one was broken when i removed it from the package... i got another one and hooked up.. i thought i could turn the water off after i got a vacum going but it hardley pulled water... even with the tap water on full blast it hardley sucks dirt up.. i returned and will stick with buckets.

The product worked very well for the first ten uses. It was easy to setup, easy to drain and replace water, and very easy to clean.

My only complaints were that it used a bit more water than I would like when draining, and that unless you used silicon tape there was a fine mist. Easily remedied though.

This last time the adapter broke though, and not in the part that is replaced by the $5 faucet adapter - it requires a new $10 water flow assembly control valve.
