I have had this led lighting system for over a month now and iam glad I bought it when on sale. Its over a 10 gallon tank( 20 inches wide) and lights it well from side to side with nice bright colour. I have it mounted on a glass canopy like recommended. I tried the light on my 20 gallon tank( 30 inches wide) and there are shadows on both sides. I have an aquarium stand that holds two tanks and this 10 gallon is on the bottom so the reflection is a little annoying when standing infront but if the tank was on a higher stand it wouldn't show the reflections as much. Iam happier with this light than with my old flourecent light.

It seems a recurring issue for these things is the faulty switch. Mine no longer turns on after a year of use. It was a good product while it lasted, but its short lifespan is a turnoff. I'm now looking for something to replace it with. Sad, since the hood that it fits on is pretty cheap as well. Save your money, get something else.

LED is here but not in this fixture

What a joke. LED technology has been around for quite sometime now, but companies that sell that technology is not giving the customer what they want and definitely not for the price. Just like anything that's new, like HD televisions when they first came on the market, premium price for a so-so product. This fixture came with the Marineland 20 gallon bio-wheel set. It may light up a 5 gallon but would be perfect for a 2.5 gallon. On a ten gallon it is very natural looking if the bottom of the tank was the bottom of the sea. My Cories carry little flashlights. NOT worth the money, not even at the sales price.

Great light for the price. I have had mine about a week, and so far my guppies havent complained. I am using this light in a Fluval Spec II, with some plants in it. The plants have shown new growth since I put this light on top of the aquarium. For the price I think this is a great product, and puts out a great amount of light. There are also 3 blue LED's that are on with the white LED's or by themselves. I'm really happy with this light overall, and you can't beat the Marineland name!

I went through 4 of the LED bulbs in 2 years. Sometimes the switches get loose, so you may or may not have the option to use the white or blue light. Also, If the bottom part of the light gets wet--can happen at any time on top of a fish tank--that pretty much kills it. The moonlight is very pretty when it works, but for the price they don't last long enough.

Lights my 10 gallon tank very well. I like the night time blue lighting... enough to see the fish but not so much to be overbearing at night. Great quality. Long lasting guarantee. I love it! Would buy again (But it looks like I wont have to since the warranty will cover it for so long!)

I bought this product, found it very useful in lighting up my 35 Gallon Hex tank. Long lasting lights give me the brightness the tank needs.

It is pretty bright, and does in fact "shimmer" the way it says.
However, I have a 30" aquarium, which is what it's made for, and it doesn't reach the sides. At first I thought it was because I have a large skull decoration on each side, so I took them out, and it is still dark on the sides. I have a very bright aquarium in the center, and then around the perimeter, where I have my plants, there is a big shadow. There is a good 6" not lit up, I'd recommend it for a 15 gallon aquarium, but not a 20, which is what I have.
It looks just fine in the night mode (the blue) though, and if it were just 3" bigger, it would light the entire aquarium beautifully.
And for such a small product, I don't like the $55 Petsmart charged me for it (especially when it's advertised at a lower price on this site)

This lights up my entire 30 INCH TANK i use it in my 30" because that is what it is made to light. Grows plants well and i keep frogs and mollies the night light is good: doesn't interrupt the fish at night. Overall, this is the best lighting you can get for smaller tanks.

This light came with my 20 gallon starter kit. I bought it in March. It is now July and it won't come on anymore. Sometimes it seems it wants to come on but it just blinks and then dies. Never had a problem with lighting when I used a full florescent bulb. Worst light ever! Now I have to buy a full hood and Light.

Got this light this evening and am so glad I did. Fits my 2.5 gallon Betta tank perfectly and makes my water look crystal clear and is so bright, I was actually surprised at how bright it was and how good it made my tank and everything in it look and that's just the daytime lights. Switched it to blue thinking oh just 3 lights, can't be that nice but it's beautiful, I have the black gravel with a few greens, blues and pinks mixed in and the colors just popped. I will love looking at this tank day and night because this light made it look so much better than it did before it.

Has 3 rows of "daytime" lights but only the middle row with 3 total lights for the "nighttime" lights (these lights are blue in color). That in its-self isn't so bad but, if you have a bar across the middle of your tank the middle light will be blocked. It is just the right size for a 30" tank, so if yours is larger, you will need a longer light (or purchase 2) to get the outer edges lit up.
