I'm returning mine because it leaked water all over the floor (and into carpet) but I couldn't find where it was leaking from, so I'll get another one and try again. I solved the "hair clog" problem by cutting a thin, scouring pad (just plastic, no metal or chemicals) to fit over and inside the cover for the water "intake". You have to take plastic cover off and position "scrubby" inside while you slide cover back on ! A 'pain' but it seems worth the trouble, because the hair doesn't clog the water flow.
It would seem the company would correct the defect and redesign it to work correctly !??? You'd think, anyway ! All in all, my cats (several) love it, and running water encourages them to drink more ! :)

Thank you, the kids' mom. I was ready to toss it. I only had it a few weeks. I had to unsnap the cover from underneath and lo and behold-pet fur! One dog and two cats, there's a surprise! Thanks for saving my sanity! They all loved it from the first.

We have had this fountain for about 6 months. It stays very full and our 2 cats love it and we love the filtering system. The only down side is you need to keep the water pump cleaned out or the flow will slow down and then stop. Otherwise is it very easy to use and clean.

I bought this because keeping water for my 3 cats was becoming a chore in it's self. They go through so much water we decided to look at the bigger "dog" bowls for them. It's a little loud, has that make you want to go water fall effect but all and all does the job. We can go about a week on the bowl plus the extra bottle of water. I do recommend taking about 10 mins a month and pulling it apart to clean the pump. If you don't then you'll end up with no water fall, very little circulation and a burnt out pump that is useless. Might have to pull it apart less with a dog since I'm sure there will be less hair build up in the pump. All and all, it's a great water bowl that keeps the water moving and healthy for your pets big and small.

Thank you "thekidsmom", I had already returned one of these fountains and was getting ready to return the second on when I read your review. I am visually impaired(Blind) and would have never known there was a way to get to the pump. I love the fountain but was very unhappy with the way the water flow would slow and eventually stop. Now, I am happy happy with the fountain and my babies love it so much. I also notice that my babies drink more water with it here and I love that when I put cold water in it, by it circulating it seems to keep it cool. Thanks again to TheKidsMom for letting me in on the secret!!!!

Love this fountain! It works great IF YOU CLEAN IT! The reviewers that did not give positive reviews are probably having the same problem I did at first. The water flow slows causing a lot of water noise. You must clean the water pump. It is SUCTION CUPPED to the fountain. Pick it up and clean underneath it. I didn't know you could pick it up to clean it. Just tug on it, it will come off and then after you clean it just push it back down to suction it back on. After cleaning it the flow returns to normal! It is really a great fountain if you clean it properly.

I purchased two of these fountains, 9 months ago, to be exact on April 2012, so far both are working fine, and the water flow continues to be strong, the fountain it is kind of noisy, not the pump more I think it is the water falling, “like pleeeease close the faucet ”. My dogs love the fountain flowing water and I noticed they drink more water. Let me tell you that this fountain is not something you just leave and forget; it needs maintenance at least once a week. The fountain instructions say to clean the pump every two weeks and change the filter every two to four weeks. I believe these rules alters depending in how many dogs use the fountain, the dogs’ habits and where the fountain it is placed. My dogs for example, like to drink water after eating, so a lot of food residues go into the fountain container. My major complaint about this fountain is that maintenance could have been made easier, for example the release housing tabs are hidden, so it is not easy to just press and release to clean the housing, and the underneath of the fountain could have been made rounded to make it easier to hold and be emptied.
I noticed several things with these fountains, for example they become noisy when the pump is dirty, and the water flow becomes small. I had the same problems if the filter is dirty and needs to be changed. I believe all the problems I read about this fountain are maintenance related and they will be fixed by checking the pump’s impeller. I believe this because at least the two times one of the fountains stopped working the problem was that something was obstructing the free rotation of the pump’s impeller. Now what makes my maintenance experience easier is that I marked where the housing holding tabs are located and I use a small flat screw driver to push the housing holding tabs and then I pull out the housing, after that I believe it is easy to remove and clean the pump parts. You can use cotton swabs to clean some of the pump parts or use a brush cleaning kit. I clean the fountains sometimes twice a week or once a week depending in how I see them. So far both fountains are working fine and I believe providing frequent maintenance, is the key to keep these fountains working properly.

i should have checked the reviews before i bought this fountain. not even close to worth the cost. had it for less than a month and the fountain stopped working. also, i had to empty it out every few days anyway to clean it since the bowl collect so much dirt.

Same as everyone else says, works for about a month then stops flowing and so water drops slowly and makes an awful noise. Its like chinese water torture.
I had another make previously before coming to the USA which you don't stock it was 100% better.
I will look for another make, its an expensive product when" it doesn't do what its supposed to do!!

Works wonderful but the motor must be cleaned once every week or so as specified in the instructions or the water will eventually not pump because the little motor gets clogged with debris. I thought mine was poor quality until I really read the instructions and did what it said to do. I wonder if this is the problem the other reviewers had and just didn't clean it. I have 3 dogs and it's great.

I purchased this fountain on the 20th of February and had to return it today. Do not buy this product. By the drink well platinum fountain better bargain for your money. By the way if you do buy this product and the filters make sure you keep your receipt and return it within 60 days they will replace or refund your money.

I have been using this fountain for nearly a year. I have a 3 year old boxer. This fountain makes it easy to provide enough water for him at all times. Instead of daily cleaning and twice-a-day refills for a traditional water bowl, I find a quick rinse of the fountain and filter on Wednesday keeps the water flowing clean until I can do a thorough wash on Saturday. It takes less than 5 minutes on Wednesday and less than 20 on Saturday. The amount of water my boxer drinks each day lets me know he really appreciates it. I hope the other reviewers clean their water bowls. You have a pet... Maintenece required.

bought one august 2011 and seemed great. Two weeks later it barely trickled out so i cleaned the motor and everything and nothing worked. about another week later it completely died. tried everything to get it to work but nothing. decided to go buy another one to see if maybe the first was just a flaw. second one lasted about a month and died. the little pump just doesnt have enough juice to push all that water up the top back of that reservoir. save your money. buy a brita filter and fill one of the ones with clean filtered water.

Like the other reviews said, this thing worked great at first. But now it has a tendency to have lower flow rate causing the water to dribble into the pool and make a loud water noise.
Usually, i can pull the pump out and clear a little hair off it and it will work well again for a few hours. But sometimes there is no hair there and I can't figure out why the flow rate has slowed down.
Very frustrating. If the flow rate problem could be solved, I'd give this product a 5 rating.

My husband and I bought this fountain for our 2 dogs about a month ago and at first it worked great. I cleaned the entire fountain 3 days ago and it was working fine up until this morning when the water had stopped flowing. We've tried everything and the water still will not flow. We are going to return it to our local store and hopefully try another one.

At first this fountain worked amazing, both my cat and dog love to drink free falling water. But after about a week, the water would no longer hit the little slope and would instead just fall into the basin (the pump was no longer as strong). In addition, the gigantic reservoir is almost on necessary as the basin begins to collect hair and dust and must be cleaned quite frequently. It is also very difficult to clean.
