I started glucosamine supplements for my ShihTzu about 3 years ago as he was just about 12 and was showing some signs of stiffness. The vet spoke about meds suc as Rimidyl and because of other health isses I wanted to avoid. He's 15 now- and still doing well! I have to break the chew into several small pieces because he has such a small mouth, and not many teeth left- but these are his favorite treat. Most of the time he still bounces around like a puppy!
Pros: easy to administer, works great, taste

we've given this to our dog for over three years (he's ten). he used to cry/yelp when he had to get up, but with two of these a day, he doesn't cry anymore. he won't chew them though, he swallows them whole...

I was giving the hard glucosamine tabs to my dogs at first but it was a fight to get them to eat them. They love these chews but they can definately get stuck in their teeth while chewing. Half the time my little girl just swallows the chew without even chewing. She'd rather just inhale them and get the next one since she gets two.

I originally bought the GNC Hip & Joint tablets for Senior Dogs and that turned out to be a mistake. My 13 year old Shepard mix would not touch them! Hiding them in cheese or mixing them into peanut butter didn't even work. I tried the soft chews on my next trip to Petsmart. I expected them to be more of the consistency of a soft dog treat, but they are actually very similar to individually wrapped caramels. I wasn't sure my dog would enjoy the consistency, but he loves them!!! I have definitely noticed an improvement after several weeks. He no longer struggles to get up from a laying position and he takes the stairs like a champ!

Agree with a previous reviewer, my aging dog won't eat them because they stick to her teeth. And given that the whole point of buying hip and joint health treats is because I have an aging dog, it was a bad investment given how expensive they are.

my 5 month old bulldog has hip dysplasia. she loves to chew on these, and since she's a chewer, she devours one before I can throw the wrapper away. It's like a treat for her. I'm hoping the glucosamine & chondroitin will help her play like a puppy for the rest of her life. The chews are wrapped like starburst candy and sometimes the paper is sticky to the chew, but that's the only thing I see wrong so far.

I started giving these to my Sheltie about 8 months ago and she just LOVES them. The soft chews are somewhat taffy-like but I have found that if I unwrap them and flatten them out and tear pieces off, then she "inhales" them. She loves the taste and does not balk at taking the glucosamine the way she did with regular tablets.
Would highly recommend them to anyone who has a dog who needs them.

Chews were too difficult for my dog to chew and he refuses to eat them. They stick to the roof of his mouth and teeth. Especially not reccommended for aging dogs who may have loose teeth.

I have an almost 2 yr old Min Poodle who dislocated her patella when she was younger. I didn't want to subject a puppy to surgery that would have her out of commision for a long time so I started giving her glucosomine. She doesn't like the hard tablets, she LOVES these chews! She bounces up and down everytime I say "do you want a vitamin?"
They will get hard if the bag is not sealed well, and that makes it tuff for her to chew, but It only took once for me to learn to make sure to close it. Her knee rarely caues issues anymore. And she can play like a puppy again.

I bought these chews after trying the hard tablets, my dogs are small and wouldn't eat the hard ones. So thinking that these chews would be great I spent about $25 on them, took them, and gave one to each of my dogs. My dog just spit it out while my other tried to chew this chew for about 10 minutes before giving up. These chews are like a piece of taffy, they are sticky and stretch, almost like a tablespoon of peanut butter. Very disappointing! Needless to say I no longer had my receipt so I couldn't return them. I now have to sit there and break tiny little pieces off just to get my dogs to eat them. Will not be buying again!
